Outlook app on Android - "An Error Occurred" when trying to setup my account

Hello all,

Would appreciate your thoughts on the following situation:

I just installed the Outlook App on my Galaxy S5 phone (Android 6).

When I start it, I get prompted for an email address so I enter my work email (Office 365) and after a few seconds it looks like something comes up and then get dumped back to the "Get Started" screen with the most helpful error message in human history:

"An Error Occurred"

Wow! Where to begin?

I cannot make it past this screen to access any settings or options of any kind.

Guess what - the OWA app for Android works fine, but it doesn't have WEAR capability unlike the Outlook app.

Any suggestions/assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi.

    Sorry for not responding sooner.

    My version of Outlook is 2.1.32

    Now for an update. I just got the LG G5 phone and installed both Outlook and OWA.

    OWA worked on my S5 a week ago, but will not sign in on my LG phone.

    I am now of the opinion that it may be our mail system as it was recently changed so will make enquiries on our end.

    In the meantime, can you tell us what your build/version number is for Office? We'd like to investigate this further.

    Had the same issue - In the end managed to fix it by going into Settings > Accounts & Sync

    I then added a new Account selecting Outlook, then Exchange. This then gave me a more advanced setup options than the default one (such as being able to manually enter the server address and Domain etc.)

    I also had to deactivate AutoSync at first to get it to appear but that might be a different issue on my part...

    Anyhow hope this helps!

    Thanks for getting back to me.

    Not sure if I am supposed to give out my email on a "public" forum, so am reluctant to do so.

    Tried option 3 - uninstalled and re-installed with no change - I could see some text come up but then the screen was replaced by the "Getting Started" one and the "An error occurred" message. Just wish I would have been able to read was on the screen that appeared just before it to maybe shed some light on the matter. Tried to setup my Virgin Media account (blueyonder) and this worked fine, so have the feeling its my work email address that is the problem and yet OWA for Android had no issues. I'm going to speak to someone at work to see if they can try the same steps as I have in order to rule out a one-off before proceeding further.

    Hi,

    I would like to know the domain of the email address.

    Let us try configuring any other email address and check if it works. (If you have any)

    Let us try to uninstall the app and reinstall it and check.
