Outlook email "groups" have suddenly disappeared; contacts still there but no groups.

All of my outlook email "groups" have disappeared. My "contacts" are all still there, but the "groups" I created are missing.

I see a number of others are having similar issues but no one from outlook has provided an answer, they keep asking the same questions: 1. Tell us how you check your email, 2. Have you made in recent changes.

After the recipients respond, they never hear back from the moderators again.

I use my email "groups" nearly ever day. However, when I woke up this morning, I found all my "groups" had disappeared from my account.

I use Windows 8.1; I check mail thru outlook.com via Chrome.  It is the same with Internet explorer.   It is also the same using the outlook app on my Android tablet.

I had been using the GROUPS for many years.

You were allowed 200 MAX per group.

My groups are completely gone now and I cant seem to get an answer from anybody.

If the outlook.com mail in your web browser still looks the same as it has done for past year or two, you haven't yet been upgraded. As said earlier in this thread, only the upgrade is going to fix this (we hope) but you can in the meantime restore groups from lists of recipients in old emails sent via outlook.com webmail per steps outlined earlier in thread. Can't guarantee that they'll stay, but groups I restored a week ago are still there.

I wouldn't be expecting Microsoft to fix this except via the new version as it rolls out.

I upgraded today to the 10Gb storage. My storage was 97% full, although as of yet, this has not corrected the problem.

I contacted Microsoft support and they escalated the issue of which I already received a call back from their offices in Washington State. They are calling me back again tomorrow with an update after investigating. They said that with all the changes they have been making with Outlook, this could be a result of that. I will let you know what they come up with.

As for going back to try and salvage my groups from past emails, I cant do that because I have 40 or 50 groups, and I am making changes to those groups on a weekly basis. THEY NEED TO FIX IT !

Why is it that every 'improvement' seems to cause more problems that it fixes - although I didn't have any problems previously that needed fixing!

I have tried creating one group (with a different name) to see if it stays.

    Hi all

I started a similar thread entitled "lost Outlook Groups Feb 2016" some time ago. It is clear that this is a major problem affecting a wide spectrum of the Outlook community. I returned from holiday yesterday only to find that all the groups I painfully recreated had gone again. Microsoft's response registers about 1.0 on the Richter Scale. Does Bill Gates and the new MS Board loose their groups-- I bet they would solve it if they did. Why can't we just be told precisely what the problem is and how (if at all) it is being rectified. I now have to decide whether to stay or quit permanently.
