Outlook email "groups" have suddenly disappeared; contacts still there but no groups.

All of my outlook email "groups" have disappeared. My "contacts" are all still there, but the "groups" I created are missing.

I see a number of others are having similar issues but no one from outlook has provided an answer, they keep asking the same questions: 1. Tell us how you check your email, 2. Have you made in recent changes.

After the recipients respond, they never hear back from the moderators again.

I use my email "groups" nearly ever day. However, when I woke up this morning, I found all my "groups" had disappeared from my account.

I use Windows 8.1; I check mail thru outlook.com via Chrome.  It is the same with Internet explorer.   It is also the same using the outlook app on my Android tablet.

    Good luck and thanks - hope that something comes of this at last. What the **** are outlook and microsoft doing? Not making enough profit to fix this it seems. I hate the idea of having to change everything but it is getting closer.

    Probably won't help those still having issues, but I haven't had any issues since migrating to the new version of Outlook in mid-2016. Per email notice from Microsoft, I had to delete and re-setup my account on my Outlook desktop client to resolve various sync issues, including groups -- called "lists" now.

    Hi guys

    I had the same issue today and couldn't find any solutions. Eventually what I did was click on 'New' and select 'New Contact List'. I just entered a name like 'Test Group' and clicked save. And suddenly the 'Lists' option reappeared, along with all my other groups.

    not sure if this will work for you but it's worth a try.

    Thanks Peter, I bit the bullet and loaded all my contacts into office outlook and there I can actually make edits which stick and which are linked to microsoft outlook. Office outlook may be powerful (at least that's what people say)  but it is clunky to use compared to microsoft.  At least it works though - so far anyway. Can't say that I am all that sanguine about it. Cheers, Margaret
