All of my outlook email "groups" have disappeared. My "contacts" are all still there, but the "groups" I created are missing.
I see a number of others are having similar issues but no one from outlook has provided an answer, they keep asking the same questions: 1. Tell us how you check your email, 2. Have you made in recent changes.
After the recipients respond, they never hear back from the moderators again.
I use my email "groups" nearly ever day. However, when I woke up this morning, I found all my "groups" had disappeared from my account.
I use Windows 8.1; I check mail thru outlook.com via Chrome. It is the same with Internet explorer. It is also the same using the outlook app on my Android tablet.

My account has not migrated to the new outlook but contacts for the second time have partially disappeared from their groups. I have around 650 which I need to sort out again, but is it worth it - go to google /ac maybe? Can you please advise urgently what I can do.
I can only suggest previous remedies ... as in re-creating your groups from previous sent emails that have all the members listed.
As far as I can gather, things have been stable since the migration to the new Outlook.com, and as I said previously, I love the integration into Office 2016 People manager. See my post of 9th April.
If you do any re-creation of groups/lists, DO take the trouble of making a backup of same.
I have the same problem (2nd time now) all my groups have disappeared, contacts have remained, the ability to form new groups has greyed out so I can't even make new groups.
And more annoyingly, I share my subscription with someone else and they don't have the problem.
So chessed off with this am now using gmail and will slowly replace all my MS usage, I am tired of problems created by MS and spending my valuable time trying to correct these f#+k ups.
I think that's what we will have to go to gmail as well. We can still create groups and it's our second time as well.
I'd suggest that while Gmail might cover your basic needs, and certainly integrates well with Android phones, that even though there have been glitches in Microsoft's migration process, the end result of full integration with Microsoft Office, and the flexibilities it gives (especially for those who use all 3 - Windows Phone, Outlook.com web access AND Microsoft Office) is worth considering.
Of course, if you are using Google apps, why would you bother with Outlook.com? But in my opinion, the finished and integrated product (especially as a Windows Phone user) is an excellent way to manage contacts and groups across those 3 areas, and I extensively use Microsoft Office, so why wouldn't I want a robust and unifiedcontact manager as part of that. I love having people's phone numbers, email details and addresses at my fingertips wherever I am.
But having lost groups myself in the leadup to the rollover to new outlook.com and wasted a good deal of time cross-checking the restored ones, I still find it very annoying that Microsoft has allowed this to happen.
