Outlook email "groups" have suddenly disappeared; contacts still there but no groups.

All of my outlook email "groups" have disappeared. My "contacts" are all still there, but the "groups" I created are missing.

I see a number of others are having similar issues but no one from outlook has provided an answer, they keep asking the same questions: 1. Tell us how you check your email, 2. Have you made in recent changes.

After the recipients respond, they never hear back from the moderators again.

I use my email "groups" nearly ever day. However, when I woke up this morning, I found all my "groups" had disappeared from my account.

I use Windows 8.1; I check mail thru outlook.com via Chrome.  It is the same with Internet explorer.   It is also the same using the outlook app on my Android tablet.

All my groups are back with additional ones that I had tried to recreate. BUT like everyone else most are missing at least 90% of the contracts. I'm in the US and still haven't seen an update to Outlook.com.

DAMN BA, Your correct. My GROUPS are back, but 90% of the content is not there.

hopefully it will catch up. This happened once before about a year ago.

A word of caution. Based on the good news from the last couple of posts, I checked my missing groups, and sure enough, they were there, but one that has about 100 members was only showing 3, and another with 21 was only showing a few.

A previous experience of this nasty phenomenon last year went through a similar stage, but after a further period of time, the whole group came back.

Meanwhile, still no sign of the changeover to the new version of Outlook.com which is supposedly being rolled out, US of A first, and the rest of us later on. Perhaps if you are a resident of USA, you might comment whether this has come to pass for you, and if so, whether it is the best thing since sliced bread, or all hype and no substance. Particularly, whether the new "lists" feature carries over your previous groups, and what happens to those groups/lists when you look at them in People in Office Outlook. (As I've said previously, they are available as "categories" in list view)

Mine too!  Lets hope it stays that way.  But what a lesson in how not to communicate service changes - presumably this is behind the issue.  Wouldnt you have thought that Microsoft might have alerted their Hotmail customer base that this would happen, give a timescale and keep them updated on progress?
