Sync Outlook 365 (email, contacts, calendar and notes) with android phone

Hi Support Community.  looking to sync my office 365 home outlook email, contacts, and calendar to my Samsung Galaxy S3.  i have a rogers.com email address from here in Canada (if that makes a difference).  I have tried the MS Exchange server thing and couldn't figure that out.  I could set up just my email, but it's the whole outlook i am looking for.  any help is greatly appreciated.  thanks in advance for the time and effort.

Rogers uses Yahoo for their backend email services which doesn't support EAS (Exchange ActiveSync) nor is it a hosted Exchange account. What is supported is configuring the email account as either POP or Imap - neither if which provides syncing of contact/calendar info which would be retained locally on a given device but will sync your email if both the desktop and S3 configure the account as IMAP.

You may want to take a look at the Outlook sync software provided by the folks at CompanionLink which will enable you to sync your phone to your desktop for contacts and calendar.

First off, thanks for the prompt reply.  Next, before I purchase additional software, I wonder if I might be able to try two other solutions.  My first idea was to change my Office 365 Home to an Office 365 Business subscription (not sure they let me do that, but I can try) which supposedly allows an app called OWA to sync.  But, would my Rogers/Yahoo type account still impede this for the reasons you gave or would this solve my issue?  My second idea was to get another email from someone who does allow/support EAS and then add that account to Outlook.  I would still get my Rogers/Yahoo emails on the other email applications on the phone, but maybe the new email address would allow the Outlook contacts and calendar syncing.  If this were the case, any suggestions on which email server/provider to use (i.e. @live, gmail, etc.)?  once again, your insight and attention is very much appreciated.

You have lots of options

#1 - Office 365 Business provides a single Exchange mailbox which has an associated monthly fee. This option allows you to map a custom domain to the hosted Exchange account but not something I've ever bothered to do with my Roger's account since it's not an email account I use for much of anything.

#2 - Free solution would be to

a) get an Outlook.com account and add it to Outlook using EAS

b) add your Rogers email account to Outlook using Imap

For sake of simplicity - add your Outlook.com account to Outlook first, that will make it the default location for contacts/calendar etc and then add your Roger's Imap account. Just means that your mobile devices would be configured with two email accounts

• one for contacts etc (Outlook.com EAS) and one for mail (Rogers.com Imap)

Your answer is relatively easy - there is no way through the use of microsoft products to do what you want.  With your microsoft 365 subscription microsoft does not support anything that is not on your computer, syncing is considered by microsoft to be outside of their product as it does not relate to the product in their view.  The fact that everyone else in the entire technology industry has moved past the blame game and understands syncing is in fact part of what needs to occur for every software/app is not relevant, Microsoft has decided it is not part of the system so it is not supported.  People like Karl here are on these forums to explain to you that the fault lies with you, not Microsoft.  In other words they won't help but will give you the ol'microsoft two step shuffle, "you must, sir, contact the manufacturer of x, or I can transfer you to another department.  Thank you for calling Microsoft".
