Sync Outlook 365 (email, contacts, calendar and notes) with android phone

Outlook always plays a passive role when syncing with a handheld device since it doesn’t include any feature to control sync settings. All sync settings need to be adjusted using the software which acts as an interface to connect the handheld device with Outlook.

Did you install the sync software? If not, install the same and follow the on screen instructions on how to sync with and Outlook and see if it helps.

For further assistance with synchronization, you may check with the device manufacturer.

There is no software that I am aware of that does a good job of this.  This is one of the reasons I am trialing Office 365, to have a seamless experience across all my devices.  It appears if I had a Windows phone this could be done.  I was hoping to get the Office 365 experience on my Android phone.  The "Office Mobile" app allows me to open an Excel, Word or PP file; but no Outlook support.

There are instructions on the MS 365 support site that states :

"You can accessemail, instant messaging, documents, and other Office 365 services from your mobile phone or tablet. Supported devices include Windows Phone, iPhone and iPad, Android Phone, Nokia (Symbian OS), and BlackBerry® devices."

This is followed by:

"Links to instructions for setting up your mobile device are included here and in the Office 365 portal. Go toSettings  >Office 365 settings > Get started > Phone & tablet. Or, go to Software > Phone & tablet and then choose your device."

Question 1:  Per the previous paragraph, where are these "Settings"?

Question 2:  Also on this same page there is the paragraph below.  Can I follow these instructions and set up an "exchange" account on my phone to access these features?

You can connect to your Office 365 or other Exchange-based email on an Android phone or tablet. When you set up an Exchange account on your Android, you’ll be able to access and synchronize your email, calendar, and contacts. I found your response lacking in everything. This was not a solution to this person's problem... or many of the people in the forums I've visited trying to find a way to get Outlook 365 to not just sync with my phone but my Outlook.com. I have been trying for the past year to solve this issue and now that my 365 year is up in February, I'm done screwing around. I'm going to stop giving MS my $99/year and go to Google. Passing the buck seems to be what all of the "support" people in forums do. I read that Outlook 365 doesn't even sync well with a Windows phone. They need to get it together or get left in the dust. After 20 years of being a loyal Microsoft user, I'm jumping ship!

#1 - Suggestion was intended to be something that works with Android phones

#2 - First step in resolving a problem is understanding the components. Outlook (the desktop client) in and of itself, plays no role (and never has) in any sync process between different devices. The sync function between devices and Outlook (the desktop client) is and has always been handled by 3rd party programs generally provided by the device manufacturer

#3 - Outlook.com and Outlook (the desktop client) are two entirely different things - one is an email account type (MAPI in O'2010 and earlier using the Hotmail Outlook Connector - EAS <Exchange ActiveSync> in O'2013 with no requirement for the connector). An Outlook.com account can also be configured as a POP or Imap account in any version of Outlook

#4 - Office '365 Home Premium ($99/yr) provides you an annual license for all the desktop applications - a totally different animal to web-based Google apps

#5 - "You read that Outlook 365 doesn't even sync well with a Windows phone" - well, my Windows phone syncs just fine with Outlook.com for what I need it to do but that has nothing to do with Outlook (the desktop client) which would sync with the Outlook.com account via EAS

So if your complaint is that you can't sync all your devices to a single Outlook.com account - then te questions need to be dealt with in the forum that is specific for Outlook.com under the appropriate Topic/Sub-Topic

With all due respect, just doing a quick review of your two other posts in different threads - very short on any details especially since this thread relates to Android whereas your other thread refers to iCloud. To recap, you don't need Office 365 to sync multiple devices for the reasons already noted especially since if you are using an iPhone - that sync process is handled by Apple's software - not part of Outlook.
