What is "Yomi name"?

Yes I expect these things to be language specific.

And if they aren't then Microsoft needs to cease and desist from discriminating.

And that souldl mean listing not just Yomi, but the Dutch, the Icelandic, etc. names.

Thanks for the feedback. We have plans to move these terms down to the bottom of the box (in Japan, they'll be shown on screen by default), so that should help people realize that it's OK if they don't understand the term.

Again, while the terms are confusing for people who are unfamiliar with them, we think the benefit of supporting this functionality, and its consistency with the EAS schema (and therefore other EAS clients) outweighs the confusion, since you can simply ignore them, and most people will not click "+ Name" on a regular basis unless they're looking for a special field.

Why not add an options in the contacts and mail settings that allows users to setup user specific languages, and then make options available to users of mail and contacts that allow them to CHOOSE the fields they want to see when using all of the various fields that microsoft has available?  Just a thought, but why don't we allow people to choose what they want to see instead of making them look at things they don't ever use?

I have just been wondering about Yomi. I have just used it to enable me to sort and search for third party customers whom are technically my customers client but whom I need to liase with directly on occasion. I find the Yomi (company in this case) to be very useful, as I can find a contact relating to a job specific anphanumeric code which includes a job number and which direct customer they relate to.

So my view is that it is a very useful option to have a Yomi field available which enables one to search for other information not directly connected to the individual contact as the "notes" section on my Nokia Windows Phone isnt searchable.

Overall my view is that the Yomi is and should be available as it can be adapted for individual use regardless of which country you or your contacts are in.

When thinking about it, in the north of the UK, I mean further north than Manchester, many people and families use their middle name to be addressed, which can become confusing as often the middle name is the same throughout the family so again there may be a use for the Yomi here too.

Anyway, for whatever reason, my vote is in favour of a Yomi or alternatively named option for searchable use whatever country you live in.

I dont believe that microsoft or google are trying to dictate how to use it, it is simply available to use and once you have the hardware/software etc, it is yours to do what you want with and therefore it then becomes personal to you which is what it is all about. I suppose.

Lastly, thanks for advising the actual meaning of Yomi.
