Unable to delete contacts.

I called Microsoft's 800 number for technical support and they say that the only support is Microsoft Community.

The Microsoft representative says that this is the only forum or place to get help.  Are there any Microsoft employees who can help me with my Hotmail/Outlook.com issue?

I am not able to delete contacts from my Hotmail/Outlook.com account.   (And, yes, I have cleared my cache, I've got the latest browser versions, the  issue is the same on multiple computers with various browsers.)

Can ANYONE help me???????

(Original title: hotmail/outlook.com won't let me delete contacts, what do I do?)

    Hi Siva,

I understand your frustration about not being able to delete your contacts.

We would like to verify if the contacts that you are unable to delete or remove in your Microsoft account is from your Google account. If so, please provide the affected email account, three (3) sample contacts, and a screenshot of the exact error message that you get when trying to delete them. I have opened a Private Message tab so that you can provide the information in a secure area. Take note that you need to sign into this website using your Microsoft account

and click the link that states, "You have a private reply to this message..." or click Private Messages across All Replies to see the tab.

If you are unable to delete the contacts saved in your Microsoft account, please provide the exact steps that you had performed to be able to delete them. Also, kindly provide the exact error message that you have encountered (if any).

We will be waiting for your response.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Welcome to Microsoft Community and thank you for posting the question. I understand that you want to delete all your contacts.  Are the contacts that you were unable to delete are contacts that you imported in your Google account?  If so, please try to unlink your Google account in order to delete it on your contact list and wait for 24 hours for the changes to take effect.

Let us know if the issue still persists.

    Thanks!

Thanks for you response Eugene S. I did verify the connected accounts and gmail is not connected to my account at all.  I had disconnected google/gmail account long back. And even verified what accounts/services are connected. Below is what i see when i go to microsoft account.

Apps and services you've given access

You haven't given access to any apps or services yet. Once you do, they'll show up here.

I believe CONTACTS is one feature which is to be very simple but i see that MICROSOFT made it really complex.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Siva

This came from Microsoft Community to my email. It worked for me:

To remove connection with facebook :

    1. Go to People window > top right, click your name > click Edit Profile
    2. Below your picture, click Manage
    3. If you see your Facebook connected, click on Edit
    4. Click the link Remove this connection completely

Thanks so much for the above suggestion. My problem was with Gmail and Outlook.  I had deleted all the contacts from my gmail account, but they kept showing up in Outlook and then in WLM.  Your suggestion worked!  I removed the connection between Google and Microsoft.  Of course, it only disconnected the accounts and did not fix the technical issue, but it works for me.

Thanks again.  Too bad there is no one place to find out how everything works and how to troubleshoot problems.

    I have the SAME problem.

Its really stupid that the PEOPLE feature is so bad in Outlook.com. I wanted to switch to Windows Phone 8 and looking at this terrible feature in Outlook.com I am skeptical to switch from Android!!!

Can someone help me delete ALL my contacts in Outlook.com?

I dont have any apps or services connected to my outlook.com but it shows that my google account is connected.

    Appreciate your help!

    Thanks..

The issue is NOT with Outlook.

The problem is CONTACTS/PEOPLE.  It isn't operating correctly.  Mail and calendar are FINE.

CONTACTS/PEOPLE is a hosed up mess.  It is an abomination.  And not one seems to know why.  This is a ridiculous waste of time.

Microsoft should be terribly embarrassed. But, from the reaction on "Community" (or should I say "the lack of reaction"), they just don't care.

There are SO MANY people with problems, I don't know how they can ignore the issues with "CONTACTS/PEOPLE".

Oh, one last thing, I DID attempt to call Microsoft support..... I actually SPOKE with them...... they told me that "COMMUNITY" is the ONLY support.  Sigh.
