Unable to delete contacts.

I called Microsoft's 800 number for technical support and they say that the only support is Microsoft Community.

The Microsoft representative says that this is the only forum or place to get help.  Are there any Microsoft employees who can help me with my Hotmail/Outlook.com issue?

I am not able to delete contacts from my Hotmail/Outlook.com account.   (And, yes, I have cleared my cache, I've got the latest browser versions, the  issue is the same on multiple computers with various browsers.)

Can ANYONE help me???????

(Original title: hotmail/outlook.com won't let me delete contacts, what do I do?)

    Hi AlexOpon Baldrick 269,

Based on your posts, both of you are unable to delete your contacts. Allow to assist you in resolving the issue.

Please help us investigate it by providing the following information:

    • Email account.
    • Contacts that you're unable to delete on your end.
    • Grant permission to access the account.

    A. Permission to access account.  To do so, visit the solution article below for more information.

(Note: If you grant us the permission to access your account, you won't be able to sign in and should always check your alternate for the password reset link for your primary account.)

What should I do before I grant access to my account to the support moderators?

    B. Active alternate email address and Unique ID. We need to verify your account ownership by providing us your Unique Identifier. The unique identifier (ID) is a 64-bit number that Microsoft assigns to you at registration. Microsoft stores your unique ID in a cookie on your computer.

To get the unique identifier, follow the steps below:

    1.Go to https://account.live.com.

    2.Provide your password if asked.

    3.Click Edit personal info.

4.Unique ID information is under Work location information.

Please post these details in the private message area I have for you. To view it, please sign in using a Microsoft account and click Private Messages tab across All Replies.

If you have any questions and clarifications, please let us know.

    Thank you.

What I did is I deactivated my outlook account and activated again but before that i make sure that my connection to the other account(i connected it to gmail) is disconnected. I have encountered this problem after i created my account so I was confident of closing that time no important messages yet.

    Did it work though???

I have already disconnected my gmail account, deleted all gmail contacts from gmail - and still the issue persists - can't delete the 'contact' in Live.com/Outlook People.  Telling me tha same as everyone else - it is managed by another program and needs to be deleted from there.

Or maybe I now need to re-connect to gmail to import nothing????

    Hi Siva,

I understand your frustration about not being able to delete your contacts.

We would like to verify if the contacts that you are unable to delete or remove in your Microsoft account is from your Google account. If so, please provide the affected email account, three (3) sample contacts, and a screenshot of the exact error message that you get when trying to delete them. I have opened a Private Message tab so that you can provide the information in a secure area. Take note that you need to sign into this website using your Microsoft account

and click the link that states, "You have a private reply to this message..." or click Private Messages across All Replies to see the tab.

If you are unable to delete the contacts saved in your Microsoft account, please provide the exact steps that you had performed to be able to delete them. Also, kindly provide the exact error message that you have encountered (if any).

We will be waiting for your response.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Welcome to Microsoft Community and thank you for posting the question. I understand that you want to delete all your contacts.  Are the contacts that you were unable to delete are contacts that you imported in your Google account?  If so, please try to unlink your Google account in order to delete it on your contact list and wait for 24 hours for the changes to take effect.

Let us know if the issue still persists.

    Thanks!

Thanks for you response Eugene S. I did verify the connected accounts and gmail is not connected to my account at all.  I had disconnected google/gmail account long back. And even verified what accounts/services are connected. Below is what i see when i go to microsoft account.

Apps and services you've given access

You haven't given access to any apps or services yet. Once you do, they'll show up here.

I believe CONTACTS is one feature which is to be very simple but i see that MICROSOFT made it really complex.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Siva
