Now I can't edit contact and add new contact to outlook.com account on my Android phone.

I have 2 problems:

  1. The option to edit contacts on my Android phone is no longer listed as an option. I can only view the contacts.
  2. When I want to add new contact on my Android phone, I can only add to my Gmail account.

Any work around for these problem? Apart from switching to WP/Apple.

    User\_333 reply of April 22, 2013 worked for me with these settings:

    Domain\Username: (myname)@msn.com

    Password: (my password at outlook.com)

    Server: blu-m.hotmail.com

    [x] use SSL

    [  ] Accept all SSL certs.

    Port: 443

    You ROCK!  Thanks for the great solution.  Hopefully Microsoft will get this right soon so their product works correctly on the Android platform.

    I hope this problem is solved for the OP but I want to explain the best work around. Its really quite simple in its complexity. Why it has to be this difficult is anyone's guess but it never was difficult until Microsoft and Google became enemies, so you read between the lines.

    This works on Outlook.com accounts. This works on Hotmail.com accounts. This work s on Live.com accounts (xbox). This works on all Android 4 and above I have tried it on with the exception of accounts that are "Child" or "Minor" accounts (user is under the age specified by Microsoft's attorney and accepted law).

    1. You must set up a new account (settings>accounts&sync) and choose Corporate for the type. Enter your Microsoft account email address and password and press next. When asked for a Domain\Username enter "%@yourdomain.com%" without quotes where %@yourdomain.com% is replaced by your Hotmail.com, Outlook.com or live.com account. Enter your Hotmail password when asked and when asked for the Server enter "m.hotmail.com" or "bay-m.hotmail.com" without quotes. Check "secure connection" if it is an option but DO NOT check SSL.
    2. Choose only to sync contacts for your new Corporate account (settings>accounts&sync).
    3. Install the Outlook app from Google play and set up your Hotmail/Outlook/Live account
    4. Choose only to sync calendars from your new Outlook account (settings>accounts&sync)

    Now you can view and edit you calendar from the native Android app.

    Now you can view and edit contacts from the native Android app.

    I found another work around that you can try too.  It's quite simple, really.  Here's how to do it:

    1. Uninstall the Hotmail or Outlook.com app, as applicable.
    2. Follow the instructions on how to set up an Exchange account on your device provided here:

    Basically you'll be setting up your Outlook.com account as a system level account (just like gmail is), which will unlock 2-way sync capabilities between the stock Android apps (email, contacts and calendar) and Outlook.com.

    In summary, it's the Outlook/Hotmail apps that are getting in the way.  If you configure your account this way, 2-way sync is enabled between the stock apps and Outlook.com.  You don't need Microsoft's app or any other 3rd party app for this to work.

    I've had success on both Gingerbread and Jelly Bean using "snt-m.hotmail.com" as my server.  Note that you need to make sure the syntax for your domain includes your full email address. For example: "\*** Email address is removed for privacy ***."  Android will try to use "\username" by default.  It won't work.  You need to manually configure it.  To do so, interrupt the configuration process (i.e. press "cancel") when it tries to connect and revise the domain as noted above. You'll be good to go.

    This works extremely well...  And I thought there was no solution for now...  but this is it!!! Thank you very much
