Now I can't edit contact and add new contact to outlook.com account on my Android phone.

I have 2 problems:

  1. The option to edit contacts on my Android phone is no longer listed as an option. I can only view the contacts.
  2. When I want to add new contact on my Android phone, I can only add to my Gmail account.

Any work around for these problem? Apart from switching to WP/Apple.

    Hi Manhattan11,

    Thank you for posting here in Microsoft Community. Could you give us the exact steps in editing your contact? Also are you using the Outlook.com mail app for mobile? Could you try to access your account via the mobile's default web browser and try to edit your contact from within there?

    Microsoft,

     I have been using Outlook app for a long time and still contacts are not editable, please enable 2 synch contacts, spend some time and let your specialists correct this issue please.

    I think this is not the kind of support expected from customers, please do something

    Really big Thanks to User_333!!!  No thanks to MS.   I think it's absolutely ridiculous that MS inhibits...by design... two way updating of Contacts on the Outlook.com app.  After all, it is when you are out and about meeting people that you are most likely to want to add a contact!  To not have that ability is absolutely stupid.  Every time I have to spend an entire evening trying to figure out a bit of their software it makes me want to try out apple....it does NOT make me want to run out and buy a windows phone if that was the intent.  If you (MS) really are serious about maintaining your market share, this type of thing should be a no brainer seamless set up with full functionality.

    It is only because I like the desktop version of Outlook that I am even on outlook.com since Google stopped supporting calendar and contact updates for Outlook last year. So, my setup on my android now looks like this...

    • Gmail connection for Gmail
    • Outlook exchange connection set to only update Contacts...Due to comments above, I've tested and verified that existing contacts that are edited on my phone are updating on outlook.com
    • Outlook.com app connection is set to only update Calendars.... this supports multiple Calendars which every member of my family has and is great to combine. (There are some things MS does right, now if they could just get the implementation down).

    Thanks to everyone out there scratching their heads at MS's "solutions" while trying to find ones that really work.  I'd be back to a rolodex without you.

    Hi there, I tried doing this, but I think I am missing a step.  Would you mind explaining again how you did this?  Is it two steps - installing the outlook.com app (configuring it one way) and creating an exchange account and configuring it another way?  A bit confused.
