Now I can't edit contact and add new contact to outlook.com account on my Android phone.

The premises of the original question is valid because adding/editing contacts on an Android phone ISN'T SUPPORTED, at least not at this time.  Based on my experience, here's what you can/can't do with your Outlook.com account on an Android device:

• Receive/Read/Compose/Send/Forward Email - yes (Hotmail or Outlook.com app preferred)
• View Contacts* - yes
• Edit Contacts* - no
• Add Contacts* - no
• View Appointments* - yes
• Edit Appointments* - yes
• Add Appointments* - yes

I've tested this with both Gingerbread and Jelly Bean using the Outlook.com app with auto synchronizing enabled for the account.  Actions denoted with an asterisk ("*") were tested using the native Android contact and calendar apps, as applicable.

The question is: when will Microsoft enable two-way synchronization between Android and Outlook.com's "People" module?  Since two-way synchronization is already available for email and calendar functions, it's either an oversight or limitation imposed by Microsoft.  If the intent is to provide a genuine alternative to Google, then this is going to be a big issue for most converts who want to use the new Outlook.com.

To summarize: Our stuff doesn't work, and we don't ever intend to fix it.

I found another work around that you can try too.  It's quite simple, really.  Here's how to do it:

1. Uninstall the Hotmail or Outlook.com app, as applicable.
2. Follow the instructions on how to set up an Exchange account on your device provided here:

Basically you'll be setting up your Outlook.com account as a system level account (just like gmail is), which will unlock 2-way sync capabilities between the stock Android apps (email, contacts and calendar) and Outlook.com.

In summary, it's the Outlook/Hotmail apps that are getting in the way.  If you configure your account this way, 2-way sync is enabled between the stock apps and Outlook.com.  You don't need Microsoft's app or any other 3rd party app for this to work.

I've had success on both Gingerbread and Jelly Bean using "snt-m.hotmail.com" as my server.  Note that you need to make sure the syntax for your domain includes your full email address. For example: "******@outlook.com."  Android will try to use "\username" by default.  It won't work.  You need to manually configure it.  To do so, interrupt the configuration process (i.e. press "cancel") when it tries to connect and revise the domain as noted above. You'll be good to go.

Answers to your questions:

• Yes, I can add/edit my contacts via the PC browser, but not (add/edit) in my Android phone book which I synced with my Outlook.com contacts.
• Add/edit synced outlook.com contacts in the phone book on my Android phone by using the HTC built-in phone book. If I try to add new contacts in the phone, my only options are to add to my phone or to a Gmail account only.
• I'm using Outlook.com app on my Android, HTC Incredible S.
• No error.

Note: If I click edit contact, the "Edit" option would appear for 2 seconds and disappear. Leaving me to view only.
