Calendar subscription does not refresh

In outlook.com I subscribed to my TripIt calendar feed. In outlook.com I went to Import > Subscribe, and entered the ical feed URL that I got from TripIt. The URL looks like this (redacted for privacy reasons): https://www.tripit.com/feed/ical/private/<<long id here>>/tripit.ics. The initial import worked perfectly and all the events from TripIt show as expected in my outlook.com calendar.

However, outlook.com has not tried to refresh the feed for two days now, and, consequently, changes are not shown in outlook.com. Now, other software in which I imported the exact same feed, e.g. the OS X calendar app and my Google calendar, do see the updates just fine. Only outlook.com does not refresh the feed, at least not in over 48 hours now.

Colors: some can, some can't. 8.1 gives more options than straight 8. As on Windows Phone 8, some tiles will pick up from selected color scheme, some don't.

Email: not sure as I am no longer using POP3. Surface with 8.1 includes Outlook 2013 as a desktop application. I believe you'd have control with that, but cannot verify. I regularly switch between Outlook and the built-in Email app depending on mood and use case du jour. They stay in synch, as does calendar and the web-based Outlook.com. When the Modern UI apps have the functionality I need, I m finding that I tend to gravitate to the clean-screen, no chrome option they provide. Personal preference I suppose. I have a handful of applications I still use regularly on my non-Surface laptop or my MacBook Air, but those are fewer and fewer. WebEx is the big thing missing for me on Surface RT. Except for that, I could do most of my business as well as personal work on it. I have music in Amazon cloud and can now play in desktop Explorer, though that interface is limited.

Compared to initial release, Surface has become much more useful, and I love that, all-in, it cost me a pittance including keyboard and extra charger. I can leave my house with a fully-charged Surface and Windows Phone HTC 8x as a hotspot and go all day. But it does not do everything, and You have to adapt to some things.

    Hello TommyM\_995,

It seems that the calendar events that you have subscribed with from another site is not properly updating. We'd like to ask for additional information so we can further investigate the issue. We have initiated a private message tab where we post the request for the information. The red link for the private message should be found above your post after you have signed in to this page. Only you and the moderators of this forum can access that private message tab so you need not to worry about your account’s security.

As for your issues concerning the feature to leave a copy of the messages on the servers, the respective support group of the mail program or device that you are using is the ones who can provide you the steps on how you can enable the settings of leaving a copy of the messages on the servers. Since you want to know if the feature is available in the surface tablet, you need to post an inquiry in the **Windows Forum** about the steps. You can also ask them questions about the color schemes and other features concerning the looks of the screen. By the way, if the settings in your automatically deletes emails from the servers when using POP3, you might please refer to the Add a Yahoo! Mail Plus or other POP account to Outlook.com categoryon this link to avoid losing messages.

If you will continue to experience any issues concerning the emails in your account as an effect of the synchronization in your devices, it would be best to create another post to avoid confusion and at the same time, we can give priority to it.

Your cooperation and prompt response will be highly appreciated.

    @ BeenAround,

We are grateful for all your inputs.

    Thank you.

I have left a detailed private message.

No, the forum link you gave will not show me how to leave a copy of the message on the server...the option DOES NOT EXIST.  I have read all six pages about that topic and left similar messages there already.  This thing should just be taken off the market until it is ready to sell and has basic functionality that third-party apps can seem to figure out.

Just to let you know I am having similar issues. I subscribe to a number of google calendars as well as a tripit calendar.  Right now the last refresh time for these "external" calendars is 1.5-2 days ago.  The refresh time for calendars "internal" to MS Live (such as "birthdays") is excellent.

Possibly useful info:  I subscribe to the same calendars on Outlook 2010 installed on various Windows 7 and 8 computers (Those outlook installations also connect directly to my MS exchange account) and those refresh very quickly (minutes, it would seem).  So clearly the servers of these external calendars *are* making the information available quickly.  It seems MS needs to teach MS live to do the same thing they have already taught Outlook 2010 to do correctly.

BTW, The only reason I also subscribe to all of these on MS live (Skydrive, Outlook.com or whatever I should call it) is so I can see them on windows phone 8.  Although the phone also connects directly to my exchange server, it seems unable to show the external calendars I view within my exchange-connected Outlook 2010.   Curiously, the phone seems to know about (just) one of them (the Tripit).  But toggling the switch on WP8 Calendar settings to "on" does not cause any of my tripit events to show in the calendar.  On the other hand, because I also import my tripit into my skydrive calendar, there is a second tripit listing on my WP8 calendar settings, this one marked "Hotmail".  Toggling that switch does cause tiipit calendar items to appear on the phone.  It's just that the sync process has huge delays.

If you can speed up the sync of external calendars on Skydrive I would be happy.  I include the other info just in case it helps you troubleshoot.
