Calendar subscription does not refresh

In outlook.com I subscribed to my TripIt calendar feed. In outlook.com I went to Import > Subscribe, and entered the ical feed URL that I got from TripIt. The URL looks like this (redacted for privacy reasons): https://www.tripit.com/feed/ical/private/<<long id here>>/tripit.ics. The initial import worked perfectly and all the events from TripIt show as expected in my outlook.com calendar.

However, outlook.com has not tried to refresh the feed for two days now, and, consequently, changes are not shown in outlook.com. Now, other software in which I imported the exact same feed, e.g. the OS X calendar app and my Google calendar, do see the updates just fine. Only outlook.com does not refresh the feed, at least not in over 48 hours now.

    Hello ErikDoe,

Let me help you further with your concern. I understand that you have tried re-adding  the calendar but it seems that this does not make any difference. You also noticed that it will take some time to have the subscribed calendar refresh on Outlook.com.

Please be informed that Outlook.com Calendar is not responsible for the updates on a third party subscribed calendar. What I can suggest is you contact the calendar publisher and inform this to them.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

removing and re-adding the calendar did not change anything. I removed the subscription. Then I added a new subscription with my TripIt feed URL. The calendar showed the same events as before, and it even showed the "last refreshed" timestamp from the previous subscription, even though I had deleted that subscription!

In the meantime, the calendar did update once, about 80 hours after the time I first added a subscription based on my TripIt feed URL. I has not updated since. So, the issue doesn't seem to be that outlook.com does not pull updates from the external feed, but that it only does that very infrequently.

Is this expected? What update frequency should I expect for external feeds? How often does outlook.com refresh subscribed calendars? Like I said, the feed itself works fine and other software like the OS X calendar application and the Google calendar see the update minutes after a change is made. With outlook.com it seems I have to wait for days. This seems odd.

    Hi,

I understand that your subscribed calendar is not updating. It is possible that you need to reconfigure this calendar, please remove and re-add the calendar and verify if the issue still persists.

    Let us know the results.

    Thanks!
