Calendar subscription does not refresh

Hi, we understand that the issue is unresolved (i.e., the problem is not fixed), but can you give us an answer to the earlier question: How often does the feed refresh? I.e., something like:

a) every hour

b) every week

c) it is random

d) we have no idea

That way, while we wait for a fix, we can decide whether we should continue to use live feeds on our outlook.com calendars, or discontinue them, or switch to another calendar product.

I share Aaron's frustration above. This seems like a fairly straightforward issue. It's an essential feature of a core product. Why is it so difficult to give us a straight answer, even if MS can't yet fix the problem? Thank you.

Oh I'd be interested too. If I could just get outlook.com calendar working properly, then I could actually get some use from the all-new Windows 8 Calendar app. Because the app hardly syncs with any external calendars, so they recommend syncing it to outlook.com, and syncing that to the external calendars. Except that outlook.com evidently can't handle syncing to external calendars either.

Anyway, I kind of enjoy all these problems. And going on these forums, reading just how helpful Microsoft is being in trying to get to the bottom of these issues regarding the basic functionality of their flagship products. And marvelling at how Microsoft is still in business, really.

I couldn't agree more Andrew. Let me take a stab at what I think will be Microsoft's official response:

We are sorry to hear of the problem you and others are experiencing with viewing external calendars such as Google Calendar via the outlook.com web site. After months of intense research we have come up with a viable and easy solution for this problem: All external calendars must be moved to an outlook.com account. This will provide very robust and seamless integration with your existing outlook.com calendar and give you the best experience possible on the internet. Please pass this along to others who may be experiencing the same problem. Thank you for allowing us to be of service to you. If there is anything else we can do please let us know.

I'd say that's pretty dead on. We'll see in about 6 months when Microsoft provides an official response and solution.

What kind of investigation is this? It's been 2 1/2 months (at least) and still no resolution. If you want people to use outlook.com and Windows 8 then you need to make this functionality work and do so in a timely manner. This level of customer service is unacceptable and reflects very badly on Microsoft. Is it that difficult that it takes months to resolve? Please provide an update.
