Calendar subscription does not refresh

In outlook.com I subscribed to my TripIt calendar feed. In outlook.com I went to Import > Subscribe, and entered the ical feed URL that I got from TripIt. The URL looks like this (redacted for privacy reasons): https://www.tripit.com/feed/ical/private/<<long id here>>/tripit.ics. The initial import worked perfectly and all the events from TripIt show as expected in my outlook.com calendar.

However, outlook.com has not tried to refresh the feed for two days now, and, consequently, changes are not shown in outlook.com. Now, other software in which I imported the exact same feed, e.g. the OS X calendar app and my Google calendar, do see the updates just fine. Only outlook.com does not refresh the feed, at least not in over 48 hours now.

As far as THIS issue goes, it is not device-specific. The calendar subscription is not getting updated @ outlook.com or live.com, etc. on a timely basis. I see the symptom on my Surface, Windows phone 8, and in regular old Outlook on my PC as well. As for liking the Surface (I have one - RT - love it), if the new iOS makes you sick, you might not like it. It is basically Windows 8 on a touch tablet with nice keyboard option. Windows 8 uses a "flat" look and feel that iOS7 adopted. Sounds like you have particular needs that would be handled better by a full OS like Windows or OSx (there are others) rather than something geared primarily for mobile.

Can the colors be customized on the Surface?  The problem I have with iOS7 is that they use bright clashing colors but they can not be adjusted.  I have a Windows 8 computer as one of my office systems and I really like the new OS.  The flat design does not bother me (though I would prefer something nicer), it is just the clashing color scheme.

On the Surface email app, is there the option under POP3 to leave a copy of the message on the server?  That is what is missing on the Win8 phone.

Yep.  I have this issue as well.  My one contract that requires me to use a calendar uses Google.  Period, it is not my call.

    I have two options:

Add the Google Account which constantly pushes notifications that I can not turn off (because a lack of ability to set notification settings) or use iCal subscription that does not update at all!

Way to go Microsoft!  You created a crappy product!

I have actually been asking Microsoft very clear questions with very small words for over a week now without any answers, so perhaps other people in this forum can answer me this:

If I switch to a Surface tablet in place of the iPad will I have these same issues that I have with the Windows 8 phone?  The iPad works flawlessly but the new iOS actually makes me sick to look at.

The critical functions I need are email and calendars.  The email program deletes my messages from the server when deleted from the device (I MUST delete from the device, but I need the message to stay on the server)...and I really would like the calendar to work but NOT constantly pop up notifications.  Could anyone let me know if it is best to just stick with the iPad?
