Calendar subscription does not refresh

Sorry - I realise I had run two problems together.

Google calendar - The calendar in Outlook.com does not seem to sync with Google Calendar - which i have to use for work - on any sort of predictable basis:

• how frequently should it be syncing
• can this be changed.

Having gone back to first principles on the Outlook.com adn Outlook sync:

• went into Outlook on my laptop, and published a particualar calendar
• went into ooutlook.com Calendar and subscribed to that published Calendar
• checked the outlook.com Calendar - all apparently OK
• went back to the laptop, added a new appointment to the calendar
• pressed send/receive
• went back into Calendar on Outlook.com - new appointments not there, no apparent way to sync, no indication of when it would sync

Is there something I am missing?

The problem described in this thread is a different one. Outlook.com and Outlook desktop sync just fine. Calendar and email. This thread is about subscribed calendars not syncing with Outlook.com on a "frequent enough" basis. I use a Surface, Windows phone 8, and Outlook on a Windows 8 laptop. Excel for external subscribed internet calendars, they all sync flawlessly and near-real-time. I do use a Microsoft account. If you are experiencing sync problems using a single Microsoft account on multiple Windows platforms, you may have a different issue.,

When is this synchronisation problem going to be fixed.

Without regular synch-ing (if there is such a word) my Windows Surface tablet is useless.

How hard can this be!

What I want to do is: synch Outlook on my laptop (including contacts and calendar) with Outlook on my Tablet (running Windows RT).

Is there a simple guide to how to do this?

I could do it with a Palm Pilot over 10 years ago!

So basically what you are saying is that From May until October (5 months) you can't (more like refuse) to address a very serious calendar sync problem which comes down to a simple refresh issue. If this issue actually given to ONE programmer to fix it would be done in a day. Its simple "Increase the refresh rate". Once hour would be fine. The truth is Microsoft doesn't want to fix it because you want everyone on Outlook. Period!

I'm so pissed! I bought a windows 8 computer and a windows 8 phone but I in order for me to do my job (to afford this MS stuff) I need to be organised and sorry  I can't use Outlook because of my project/task management does not integrate with it. Guess I should have really did my home work.  

This should have been fixed a long time ago. How do you expect to gain market share if the mobile phone experience is hindered by something so simple? I was Android user who decided to go with a with a Windows phone. I'm already missing several apps but to not be able sync my calendar is just is excusable for a company like Microsoft.

In case someone here is looking to sync your Google calendar with your Windows 8 Phone calendar. I just spent .99 to make it happen. Get this app and follow the instructions then under settings -> email accounts long tap the gmail account with calendar you want and click sync. Done!

Haven't seen if it automatically  updates going forward but at least you can force a refresh by long tapping and sync the gmail account on your phone.
