Outlook.com Calendar cannot be added to iCal

Hello,

I have a Macbook and want to use my Outlook.com account on iCal.   I would like to use this as my primary calendar to add all events and invite attendees so that it is in the Outlook.com cloud.   I cannot seem to add it using the Mac preferences.  Please help.

Hey!

Choose Exchange and when it asks Username its your email address. Then it asks Internal Server and External Server so those are both outlook.office365.com. Worked for me.

    You have to remember that the people responding to these issues sometimes do not speak English as a first language, are using a guide (hmm...keywords are...), and probably do not own Macs. Apple support is just as bad.

    Turns out the issue is on the Beloved, faultless, Apple OS X. APPLE doesn't support the protocol. So contact APPLE.

    I quote:

    "Mac uses Exchange Web Services to connect to Exchange. iPhone/iPad uses Exchange ActiveSync to connect to Exchange. Hotmail/Outlook only supports Exchange ActiveSync."

    So go on the Apple support forums and ask them when OSX will support Exchange ActiveSync.

    Sorry about my tone. I have experienced absolutely boneheaded support in these forums. My problem is with Mac users that tend to have the opinion that Apple has done everything in their power to support everything, so the onus is always on the Other Guy to fix the problems, but that simply isn't true.

As previously stated by my colleague, the option to add/import Outlook.com Calendar in the default Calendar of Mac is not applicable. You have to keep in touch with Mac support team to verify if adding Outlook.com Calendar is applicable in Mac Operation System.

    Hi Tom,

    I can see how important it is for you to be able to have an option to add your Microsoft/Outlook.com account on Mac. However, the developer of Apple's Operating System are the ones who decide what features will or will not be available on it. I recommend that you contact their support team for better assistance.

    I don't understand.  Any OSV requires that their application developer comply to their APIs and support other conventions including industry API like like calendar APIs.  I know for a fact, that your Operating System Division requires App ISVs to do many different things to get certified on Windows.  

    So what I am concluding from your reply is that you would rather have users leave the Outlook platform than fix your support of OSX.
