Hello,
I have a Macbook and want to use my Outlook.com account on iCal. I would like to use this as my primary calendar to add all events and invite attendees so that it is in the Outlook.com cloud. I cannot seem to add it using the Mac preferences. Please help.

Choose Exchange and when it asks Username its your email address. Then it asks Internal Server and External Server so those are both outlook.office365.com. Worked for me.
This is brilliant! I agree so completely. I have wasted so much of my time trying to get calendars working properly in outlook for mac. I'm so exhausted from it - and I can't keep track of myself and my work - because my damn calendars won't function properly. This issue is effecting my whole life and the solution should be SIMPLE! Can't believe I am paying for office 365 + Outlook software - Apple software was great, but large corporations use Outlook - which won't accept the iCal invites etc. iCal has no problems accepting outlook invites. When oh when can I stop beating my head against this Microsoft wall????????? I am a VERY unhappy customer.

It's the big company "not my job" syndrome.
That's what I think as well. What I don't understand are the generic replies posted by the forum moderators and why they have no power to escalate our concerns to the proper support groups.
...I'd still like to this issue fixed; but seeing how Microsoft doesn't seem to care about OS X, I've been forced to just switch into an all iCloud ecosystem. I miss Android on tablets (the file explorer was awesome); but at least iCloud works on the Windows side of things.
The responsibility is on Microsoft to liaise with Apple if they want their products and services to work seamlessly on Apple's operating systems.
Apple are not going to pro-actively negotiate support for rival service providers - this is a something that must be fought for by Microsoft.
