Exchange ActiveSync won't sync contacts on Android

Hi,

I've been having a problem with Exchange ActiveSync on my Android phone. Calendar and E-mails sync fine without any problems. However, my contacts won't sync properly. My contacts sync the first time I set up my account on my phone using Exchange ActiveSync but afterwards if I make any changes or add new contacts on my phone then it won't sync to Outlook.com. The same situation arises if I modify or create a new contact on the web at Outlook.com; I don't see these changes being synced to my phone. 2-way syncing is not working for my contacts.

I have removed and re-added my Outlook account on my phone multiple times but the problem persists. I am using a Nexus 4, running the latest version of Android Jelly Bean 4.2.1

Can you please fix this?? It is extremely annoying and inconvenient. I don't want to use the Hotmail or Outlook apps since they are very limited in functionality and a big battery drain on the phone.

Thanks.

I started this post on January 30, 2013 to resolve this issue. 4 months later it is still not resolved. At this point I am completely fed up with the lack of resolution.

I am no longer allowing any of your support specialists access to my account. Can you please respond with a link so I can reset my password. I repeat, I DO NOT want anyone accessing my account anymore. I am revoking all privileges to my account. Please respond to let me know you are complying with my request and send me a password reset link.

I've also been experiencing sync issue between my nexus 4 and live.co.uk account, set up as exchange on my device.

Been in contact with M$ and got about as far as you guys have (nowhere), so have been doing some hardcore testing over the past couple of days to try and find out from where the problem stems.

Like a few of you I have excluded using the android 'outlook.com' app from +SEVEN as it is both ugly, not particularly functional, and prevents the editing of contact details from the native People app on the device.

So after a monsterous amount of syncing, adding, removing, syncing, editing, syncing various contacts between three places (outlook.com, my android handset, and exchange 2013) under various circumstances I THINK I've found a 'solution' that works for me.

If after syncing the account all I do on my handset is add a contact, it works perfectly and syncs.

If I amend 'conventional' details (name, address, phone) it works fine.

If I delete a contact it works fine.

    HOWEVER

If I add a picture to the contact, or click the star to add the contact to my favourites no contact modifications then sync either TO or FROM the handset.

This seems to be holding true at the moment, but I will continue to monitor the situation and update this thread if it seems not to be the case.

If it does hold true I can only assume that during the sync process android tries to deliver fields that exchange doesn't support at which point it freaks out and refuses future requests. This would potentially explain why the outlook.com app doesn't allow for updates from the handset?

Anyway - I hope this helps some people.

If it does transpire this is the issue it'd be nice if Microsoft could maybe re-assess their EAS protocol to perhaps just ignore any sync data it doesn't like rather that causing an outright failure.

    Future update to follow.

I also have been having the same problem as people above. My smartphone doesn't want to sync my contacts using EAS @outlook.com. Other things works fine.

I've got synced Facebook contacts and probably the Skype's ones. All my contacts won't synchronize anymore.

I used to have standard EAS account in own domain on this smartphone and everything works fine then.

I grant you my permission to access my Microsoft account.
