Exchange ActiveSync won't sync contacts on Android

Hi,

I've been having a problem with Exchange ActiveSync on my Android phone. Calendar and E-mails sync fine without any problems. However, my contacts won't sync properly. My contacts sync the first time I set up my account on my phone using Exchange ActiveSync but afterwards if I make any changes or add new contacts on my phone then it won't sync to Outlook.com. The same situation arises if I modify or create a new contact on the web at Outlook.com; I don't see these changes being synced to my phone. 2-way syncing is not working for my contacts.

I have removed and re-added my Outlook account on my phone multiple times but the problem persists. I am using a Nexus 4, running the latest version of Android Jelly Bean 4.2.1

Can you please fix this?? It is extremely annoying and inconvenient. I don't want to use the Hotmail or Outlook apps since they are very limited in functionality and a big battery drain on the phone.

Thanks.

    Hello Packov,

We appreciate your time for posting back. I'm sorry to know that your contacts are not synching at the moment. Just to set your proper expectation, one possible reason why you're experiencing this issue is because there's a bad cache on your mobile device.

    1. Remove and reconfigure your account on your device. For more for information, take time to read this Microsoft article: **Get info on setting up Outlook.com on your Windows Phone, iPhone, or Android phone**.

    Hello, Julius,

Yes, my contacts aren’t syncing at the moment, since I am still waiting for a more long-lasting fix than just removing and reading the account, which works just for a few days.

I normally add it through settings / add EAS account and the only special setting is to use server: dub-m.hotmail.com (this address was supposed to work as best solution). Afterwards I notice, this server is automatically changed to: dub407-m.hotmail.com (which is my current setting). Of course there is SSL (443) enabled. E-mail and calendar sync is working perfectly. One more thing, my e-mail is from the days of “custom domains live mail” system.

And it doesn’t matter whether I use my phone’s contact linking with Skype, Facebook (Xperia with FB services) or not.

    Thank you for your help!

I too have solved my sync issue by deleting all of my Outlook desktop contacts and recreating them from scratch. I also had accumulated thousands of contacts over the years; previously I had been copying my existing Outlook desktop Contacts to another folder, recreating my Exchange ActiveSync account, and then copying the individual contacts back into the new Outlook desktop Contacts folder. Inevitably the sync would "break" after a day or so. Since I've deleted my contacts (or actually copied to an Archive folder) and only create new contacts in Outlook desktop from scratch, (or at outlook.com or on the phone) my sync has been working perfectly for months now!

    UPDATE A MONTH LATER:

Forget what I said, this has stopped working twice now in the last month. I noticed that both times I added a phone number to my Contacts directly from my phone from someone that called me and one from a friend that sent me a text.

How can I get someone at Microsoft to do that "specialized adjustment on their servers using their special Microsoft internal tools?"
