Exchange ActiveSync won't sync contacts on Android

Hi,

I've been having a problem with Exchange ActiveSync on my Android phone. Calendar and E-mails sync fine without any problems. However, my contacts won't sync properly. My contacts sync the first time I set up my account on my phone using Exchange ActiveSync but afterwards if I make any changes or add new contacts on my phone then it won't sync to Outlook.com. The same situation arises if I modify or create a new contact on the web at Outlook.com; I don't see these changes being synced to my phone. 2-way syncing is not working for my contacts.

I have removed and re-added my Outlook account on my phone multiple times but the problem persists. I am using a Nexus 4, running the latest version of Android Jelly Bean 4.2.1

Can you please fix this?? It is extremely annoying and inconvenient. I don't want to use the Hotmail or Outlook apps since they are very limited in functionality and a big battery drain on the phone.

Thanks.

I have the same problem as JP_555:

I am running Android 4.2.2 (Alcatel One Touch 4033E). Exhange Activesync is not syncing live.com/outlook.com contacts created on my phone but calendar entries and emails are syncing fine.

I have come across this thread after recently suffering the same problems using my Android 4.2.1 phone. I have outlook.com syncing via Exchange Active Sync. Emails and Calendar work fine however Contacts do not. They sync initially as expected, but no changes/deletions/additions are synchronised. I'm not sure how long this has been an issue as I only just noticed it. I have reset my phone and recreated Corporate accounts but still no luck after the initial sync.

Exchange active sync works fine with other email servers (eg my work) including 2 way contact sync.

Microsoft, can you please look into this. There are many discussions about the problem so appears to be wide spread.

    Hi,

My problem just reoccurred. I just noticed that contacts on my phone are out of sync with outlook.com again. Any changes that I make on my phone are not syncing, so I am stuck again. I do not know, when exactly did it stop to sync, so I am lost with two different databases of contacts, one on my phone and one on my outlook.com account.

So, if you “fix” it like you did in my last case (delete my phone’s contacts and resync with outlook.com database), I will lose all the changes that I have made on my phone. I would really prefer you to try to fix the problem at the root (whatever it is) and re-sync my databases both ways, so I can keep everything…

Thank you for your help… again.

I started this post on January 30, 2013 to resolve this issue. 4 months later it is still not resolved. At this point I am completely fed up with the lack of resolution.

I am no longer allowing any of your support specialists access to my account. Can you please respond with a link so I can reset my password. I repeat, I DO NOT want anyone accessing my account anymore. I am revoking all privileges to my account. Please respond to let me know you are complying with my request and send me a password reset link.

Lol at this guy getting mad over his FREE service that Microsoft offers.

Go find the password reset link yourself.  You're not special nor are you a snowflake

    Welcome to the internet

Wow, that was really fast. I am impressed. You managed to fix my problem. I didn't have to do anything and it is syncing again in both ways.

But I also noticed, that you have probably deleted some index or cache, so my phone just downloaded the whole contacts database from outlook.com again, which overrode my new contacts (and some changes), that were entered on the phone and not yet synced. I really hope this is the last time this problem accured, because I cannot pay attention all the time, if the contacts are syncing correctly in the background. I just like to edit my contacts when I'm on the road... that's the reason why I do not like to use Outlook.com App (there you cannot edit contacts).

Otherwise, my phone is updated and with no special costumizatons.

    Kernel version: 3.4.0-g5b052b2-00814-g976ab37 BuildUser@BuildHost ) ) #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Apr 17 12:43:13 2013

    Thank you and best regards.
