How to export new modern outlook.com calendar in .ics format?

I love the new modern UI of outlook.com and switching my other calendars to it now. I found that there is an Import button, but how about Export? Is there any way to export my calendar in *.ics format (like Google does) so I can use them with other calendar clients?

The is a serious concern for me if outlook.com calendar doesn't support export as *.ics, I need more control with my data and if they are trapped in outlook.com, I think I may give up.

Hi,

Exporting of Calendar from Outlook.com is not yet available. You can only share it with other people in which they are able to add it directly to their calendar view in Outlook. Depending on the permission you give them, they can view your calendar or edit it.

We suggest that you check this link for more information and updated workaround to share your calendar.

The problem with this pseudo import method is that the transferred events become "read only". You cannot edit the events in the destination calendar. I am trying to migrate from the Hotmail calendar to the Google calendar but have not found a good way to transfer the events.

Hi,

I tried the share/export function and was also at first surprised that apparently all appointments were "private" and details not visible, although I chose the "show details" export.

But then I found out that some details were visible and those not visible details were marked "private" in the event itself. I.e. you'd need to uncheck the private-box in all entries and then export/share.

Google treats this private-flag differently, i.e. if I import/embed the google-ics-export with my login I can see all details, even of private entries.

I tried the above at work in Lotus Notes with the same entries in the google- and the outlook.com-calendar (actually outlook.com was an export from google, as I consider switching, due to lack of exchange activesync support from google!).

Hope this helps somebody.

The Share button in fact is an Export button, I think MS should consider to use a better name to describe the feature.

  1. Sign in to your Hotmail Calendar using this link.
  2. Click on Share located at the top part of your screen and select the calender which you’d like to transfer.

3.  Choose the option which says "Send friends a view only link to your calendar" then click on ICS: import into another calendar application.

  1. A new dialog box will appear. Copy the link.
  2. Open a new browser. Paste the link that you previously copied then replace the word webcal at the beginning of the address with http and hit Enter.
  3. A new dialog box will appear.  Please click on Save to download your  calendar’s ICS as a .ics file.

    Finally, Shane posted the only solution that works!  The idea of using the "share" button was entirely non-functional to accomplish an ics file download. 

    Just look at this screen shot: there is no option as described throughout much of this discussion.

    Shane's directions to use Gear/Options/Calendar/Shared calendars/Publish calendar was the only solution that worked for me.

    Hi, I've been trying to export my calendar for several months now, with no success. The process outlined above gives me a 404 error when I open either link generated (both HTML and ICS links give the same error, and both the 'Show availability only' and 'Show availability, titles, and locations' have this behaviour). I have tried using both google chrome and edge to access the links, and have deleted and re-made the links multiple times. I have also tried generating the links and waiting before attempting to download- all of which to no success. I tend to use my school internet (which has a proxy) but have also tried at home (which does not) without success. If it is a location issue (i doubt it but I just want to give as much info as is needed) I am located in Australia. I need the ICS for a Rainmeter calendar- and my calendar has ~60 recurring events with atypical start/finish times; which means recreating them is laborious. All I want is a way to download the ICS file that is still working; and if anyone can help, that would be much appreciated. Thanks all.
