Using older versions of Outlook for Mac in business environments
It seems that I have found a solution. This involves “complete” uninstallation of the Outlook application and its files. After the steps below, Outlook has been working correctly again about two days.
Remember to write down any customized settings and possible signatures as all of them are gone.
I don’t know if all the steps are really needed, but here is what I did.
- Delete all accounts from Outlook/Preferences/Accounts
- Uninstall the Outlook application by moving it to Trash from Applications folder
- Delete following folders and all sub folders and files
- ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Office365ServiceV2
- ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Outlook
- ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T34G9.Office
- ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T34G9.OfficeOsfWebHost
- ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T34G9.ms
- Reboot OSX
- Empty Trash
- Install Outlook fresh
- Apply your custom settings and create Accounts.
- Wait for the first sync to complete. This might take a while.
There might be some other folders and/or files for the really Complete uninstallation, but I haven’t found any instructions from Microsoft and deleting those files and folders was enough to fix this issue.
Hopefully it does not happen again!
