The only way to fix this is to reboot outlook. I end up doing this 10 time a day. Is there any fix?

Pretty ridiculous that they haven't pushed an update that fixes this or provided any sort of helpful input.

Reverting back to Outlook 2011. It's not pretty, but at least I can read my email without having to close and restart the program.

Same here. I still get new email from icloud, but nothing from my corporate exchange account (I still have new mails via iOS & exchange webmail, so no issue with the exchange server). Tried to restart my mac, close & reopen outlook for mac but nothing helps.

It was working fine until yesterday. I was working from home and made a VPN to my work. When I closed the VPN connection, outlook for mac refused to pick up new emails through my regular internet connection. I thought that rebooting would fix it, but it's kind of stuck now.

When I make a VPN connection again, it's importing the new emails. As soon as I disconnect it's again hung up on sync pending.

[Solved - at least temporarily till a fix is released]

I struggled with MS support for an hour and all I got was

    • Reboot Outlook
    • Reboot laptop
    • Go back to Outlook 2011 because Outlook 365 has bugs (verbatim)
    • It is a problem with Exchange server

Eventually, after playing around a bit, I realised that the problem goes away if logging is enabled in Outlook 365.

From the Ribbon, Goto Tools -> Sync Errors.

On the window that opens, click on the settings gear at the top right

Select "Turn on Logging for troubleshooting"

    Click OK

Restart Outlook (you will see an annoying prompt each time you start Outlook, select to keep Logging On)

That's it, Outlook should stay synced now.

Thanks for this temporary tip. Solved the issue for me
