Still getting emails from blocked sender

I keep getting spam emails from the same senders even though I've already blocked their domains, as well as all of the other email addresses/domains that were found in the message sources.

  • WHY am I still receiving messages from domains that are blocked??
  • Why is there no option to simply block a sender's I.P. address?

All of the spam I receive comes from the same 3 or 4 I.P. addresses, but they have tons of domains at their disposal to spam people with.

I don't want to resort to creating a new 'rule' every time these idiots come up with a new domain to send their spam from. So before you suggest that I create a new rule for each and every one of these email addresses, my response to that is NO. I shouldn't have to. Aside from the fact that doing such a thing would be far too time-consuming, when I block someone, I expect my email provider to perform that function properly and without fail.

    > The "Block" feature on outlook.com does not and I mean does not work

There was a time when outlook.com did have the feature whereby messages whose senders were added to the block sender list were dropped entirely. This feature was modified some time last year (or the year before - I don't recall precisely) so that blocking a sender meant their messages were placed in the Junk folder.

Whether or not this is the action you or I would like, the fact remains that the feature doesn't currently exist. The blocked sender list's operation is to deliver messages from blocked senders to the Junk E-mail folder. Your choices at this point are to suggest something different in the Outlook.com Uservoice forum, deal with it as it is, or use a mail service that behaves more the way you want.

Yes I keep blocking and they keep coming, lately from Jean Patrique selling kitchen knives and related goods. I am also getting emails from France, written in French, and the inevitable stream of 'PayPal' phishing messages, often from the same source. Blocking used to work, but in Outlook it seems unreliable at best.

Sir, I must totally agree with what you are saying as I do not care what Microsoft Support has to say or state, however the blocking feature does not work the way it states it does as I have spent too much time paying attention to this as outlook.com should have not been released into production without completely being tested in research and development. I have been in the information technology business for 30 years and if I was to release application software into production with this amount of problems and issues I would be on a corner of New York City collecting money in a cup to survive. In my professional opinion Microsoft needs to pay more attention to their research and development team and hire professionals that know what they are doing versus taking guesses on whether their software applications really work or not. Thumbs down on outlook.com. Microsoft going back should have left the original Hotmail in place as that application worked perfectly. Regards and thank you.
