Still getting emails from blocked sender

I keep getting spam emails from the same senders even though I've already blocked their domains, as well as all of the other email addresses/domains that were found in the message sources.

  • WHY am I still receiving messages from domains that are blocked??
  • Why is there no option to simply block a sender's I.P. address?

All of the spam I receive comes from the same 3 or 4 I.P. addresses, but they have tons of domains at their disposal to spam people with.

I don't want to resort to creating a new 'rule' every time these idiots come up with a new domain to send their spam from. So before you suggest that I create a new rule for each and every one of these email addresses, my response to that is NO. I shouldn't have to. Aside from the fact that doing such a thing would be far too time-consuming, when I block someone, I expect my email provider to perform that function properly and without fail.

You THINK the filter isn't doing it's job...have you checked the HEADER?

Have you checked for variances in the address or differences between the listed sender and the address you blocked?

Have you done some thinking to see if that mail is actually being imported from another address and if so blocked it there?

Have you checked to see if a site you signed up for is reputable or has been hacked lately?

Have you read the terms for using the site? Nobody has forced you to use the site. You have no implied warranty for a free email site. This site here is a PEER TO PEER support site, and assisted by moderators. The people that are trying to help can be seasoned tech workers or they can be average users who want to help others with what they know.  But you have to do your own homework as well. Don't assume that it is a problem for everyone, because it certainly isn't. A vague my email is broken is of little use, there are different reasons for that for any user. You can't tell a doctor it hurts here and expect them to write a prescription without details.

No, if you block a sender

the filter is supposed to BLOCK that sender. The only reason they keep sending the messages is because the filter is not doing its job. Several viruses travel through spam senders.

    1. I don't want to have to spend hours going through my junk folder EVERY DAY AND SOMETIMES TWICE A DAY.. If I  block a sender I want mails from that sender to not reach my account at all...
    2. I spent hours setting up "rules" to delete messages that meet certain criteria..."**** + Viagra"...spoof-mails that appear to be from myself....mails that have my user name/or part of my email address in the subject or the body of the mail....These rules don't work if the mails have been routed to junk folder....The rules should apply to mail routed to junk also!!

I spent hours forwarding obvious phishing mails etc...with the message source included to ******@outlook.com...without any help resulting that I can tell....I keep getting emails with the same crap.....filling up my junk folder..

I have just about stopped rule making, reporting to abuse, marking as phishing etc because it was like a full time job and VERY FRUSTRATING... I used to not have this problem...I and thousands of other hotmail/outlook users want Microsoft to KILL THE FRIGGING WITCH!!!   PLEASE

When you block a sender the messages are SUPPOSEED to go the junk folder!

Simply empty the folder periodically or let it do so automatically.

The reason that the spam goes to the junk folder is because

    1. The filter did it's job
    2. You have the option of unmarking the message(s) as spam in case your goofed.

You do not understand how your spam filter works in this case and are worrying needlessly. If the spam shows up in your INBOX, then you have a problem to deal with. The fact that it show in the JUNK folder means that it worked.. NO, the banned emails are not going to disappear forever like Dorothy killing the Wicked Witch.

And it's a myth that you can find anything's source by IP address.. IP addresses are not always permanent, they can change regularly and they are not like a street address or a zip code.
