Still getting emails from blocked sender

I keep getting spam emails from the same senders even though I've already blocked their domains, as well as all of the other email addresses/domains that were found in the message sources.

  • WHY am I still receiving messages from domains that are blocked??
  • Why is there no option to simply block a sender's I.P. address?

All of the spam I receive comes from the same 3 or 4 I.P. addresses, but they have tons of domains at their disposal to spam people with.

I don't want to resort to creating a new 'rule' every time these idiots come up with a new domain to send their spam from. So before you suggest that I create a new rule for each and every one of these email addresses, my response to that is NO. I shouldn't have to. Aside from the fact that doing such a thing would be far too time-consuming, when I block someone, I expect my email provider to perform that function properly and without fail.

Are the messages arriving in the Inbox or the Junk folder? If the latter, everything is working as designed. Ignore the Junk folder.

    Hi Curious23,

I can understand your frustration regarding emails that are still being received from your account even after you've added them to your blocked senders list. Let us see how I can help.

Please confirm if you've already tried the to set your account to Exclusivein order minimize spam emails that you have been receiving. If you haven't done so, you may refer to John Paul M.'s post for the how-to steps or to the updated version that I will be providing.

    1. Log in to your account.
    2. Once your Inbox contents are shown, click the gear icon right beside your account name found on the upper right hand corner.
    3. Select Options in the drop-down menu.
    4. Right under "Preventing junk email", choose Filters and Reporting.
    5. Choose the option Exclusive.
    6. Hit on Save.

Messages from blocked senders should be automatically deleted. If, in case, the spammer managed to bypass the Junk mail filter, please report this to our Microsoft Online Safety Team. For more information on this, refer to the article below.

**Deal with abuse, phishing, or spam in Outlook.com**

Should you have other questions, clarifications or any other concerns, please reply to thread and we will be happy to further assist you.

    Regards,

    Jeffrey

Switching my settings to exclusive does nothing - I've had this setting in place for years and still get the same old garbage.  I've set up repeated new message rules and blocked senders and I still get the same crappy spam messages.

I must and whole heartedly must agree with what you have said and stated here, as it is a total disgrace that outlook.com has so many problems and issues that is it literally pathetic and all you keep hearing and receiving from Microsoft is "We are sorry for this convenience". It has gotten to the point, I am seriously considering closing my outlook.com email account due to the fact it is not dependable at all.

I will give a perfect example of what happened yesterday. I was attempting to "empty" my deleted emails folder and I right clicked on it and there was the option to empty the folder. I clicked on it and a warning message came up stating, "You are about the delete all the emails in this folder" and I clicked on it as that is what I wanted and desired to do. So it started it's process and there was this wheel spinning on the screen and another idiotic message, "We are running as fast as we can" and about a minute later another warning message came up on the top of the screen, "Something happened on our end and please refresh the brower". So I did refresh the browser and attempted to do the process all over again and it still did not work and the end result is I was unable and still not able to empty out the entire contents of my deleted emails folder.

I am not sure who is in command over there at Microsoft research and development and quality control, but I have been in the information technology business for 30 years and if I had ever released a product or deliverable into production like that with so many problems and issues, I would have been fired and terminated immediately and I would be standing on the corner in New York City with a cup in my hand begging for money. Both thumbs down Microsoft on your outlook.com email product as it leaves much room for desire...
