Outlook for Mac Does Not Work on OS X 10.10 (Yosemite Public Beta)

Outlook launches without a Home Screen.

Menu Items are accessible and function properly (i.e. compose and send email, access Accounts etc.).

However, Home Screen does not render and you cannot see (or access) Mailboxes, Calendar, Contacts etc.

Appreciate that this is an issue with Public Beta Version but Apple has now issued this to One Million Mac Users and plenty of Microsoft Users rely on Outlook for Mac so, will need to be resolved.

I just accomplished a successful window placement, using the above instructions, for the 6th time yesterday (beta 7 came out, requiring a restart). I've never had the procedure fail, had to start over again at any point, etc.

Are you sure that you didn't miss a step along the way? I've not tried any alternative simply because this solution has worked so well for me. The only thing I can suggest is trying again - reboot both times, follow the instructions to a 't.' It SHOULD work.

i dont think i misssed any steps, i followed exactly,

it just worked "once", then the next time i restart the app it hasnt got the home screen again,

well, i think i will jsut use Mail at the moment, hope this problem will fixed when yosemite officially released

A combination of Tracy plus Ian's suggestion of killing the Daemon once running got me back up and running.

To summarize:

First, Birche's steps:

1, Start Outlook, and the main window will not open

2, Start Activity Monitor and kill the Microsoft Database Daemon

3, Go back to Outlook, and now the main window will open

4, Put the text "Microsoft Database Daemon" in the Spotlight, find it and start it

/Applications/Microsoft Office 2011/Office/Microsoft Database Daemon.app
1. This got my main window back, but outlook wouldn't connect to the server.
Now for Tracy's step:

6. Make sure "Hide On My Computer folders" is unchecked in Preferences/General
1. Quit Outlook
2. Open it back up. Should load main window AND start pulling down new mail :)

i actually just tried again yesterday, and still same,

when i closed the software and open again the home screen still missing

but however, i believe the new beta 3 has resolved this issue,

both my home and office outlook are working fine

I'm using the developer's previews and just updated to release 8 yesterday - and all the problems seems solved. I assume that the beta program's version 3 is the same as the developer's preview 8? If so then the problem should be gone. Seems as if it was an Apple bug, after all.

I've rebooted a number of times since the installation yesterday - no problems with Outlook, now!

Great news - I loaded Yosemite Beta 3 last night and Outlook now works perfectly once again. All I had to do was launch Outlook after loading Beta 3 and all is good!
