Outlook for Mac Does Not Work on OS X 10.10 (Yosemite Public Beta)

Outlook launches without a Home Screen.

Menu Items are accessible and function properly (i.e. compose and send email, access Accounts etc.).

However, Home Screen does not render and you cannot see (or access) Mailboxes, Calendar, Contacts etc.

Appreciate that this is an issue with Public Beta Version but Apple has now issued this to One Million Mac Users and plenty of Microsoft Users rely on Outlook for Mac so, will need to be resolved.

    Actually, this didn't work for me after-all. It does open the Outlook windows and I can at least see it,but even after re-starting the database: Outlook never connects to my server and is always "pending".

    Sadly, Mac's default 'Mail' app is crashing every ten minutes too with Yosemite so e-mail has become a total pain in my **** now.

    Easy solution to a problem that was starting to wear me down - there's only so long you can use webmail.

    The solution that worked for me:

    • Make sure "Hide On My Computer folders" is unchecked in Preferences/General
    • Quit Outlook, delete "com.microsoft.Outlook.plist" in User/Library/Preferences
    • Start Outlook holding the Option key, create a new identity, right click to make default

    It should now start. Add your Exchange account again. The "no window" bug happens when your Exchange folders are expanded. Just make sure you keep them all closed and it should work fine. Unhiding the On My Computer folder allows you to open/close your account folder. I have forgot to close my folder a few times and had to do this all over....

    The "no window" bug happens when your Exchange folders are expanded. Just make sure you keep them all closed and it should work fine. Unhiding the On My Computer folder allows you to open/close your account folder. I have forgot to close my folder a few times and had to do this all over....

    Wow. I've been poring over every forum, message board and help file on this issue. You are the first one to point out the root of the problem. Sure enough! When I close Outlook with folder not expanded, I can open again next time. Otherwise, total pain in the ****. I sure hope Microsoft fixes this soon.
