Outlook for Mac Does Not Work on OS X 10.10 (Yosemite Public Beta)

Microsoft just released the Office for Mac 2011 14.4.4 Update:  

I've installed this update but it technically isn't addressing any Yosemite UI/UX or dev functionality issues. I am able to use all of MSO11mac with the only issue now under Yosemite DP-6 (Build 14A329f/r) is that UI redraw when switching between Mail/Calendar/Contacts happens to stall or freeze. Using Command+2 to switch between modes works, but I've had to repeat the request a few times for the UI to refresh. It's particularly noticeable when switching to Calendar View. One synced primary Calendar usually is okay. It's when Outlook is setup with multiple accounts with a Calendar for each account where the UI redraw hangs occur.

This discussion has proved the capability and willingness of Microsoft Forum members to work on issues and share knowledge. This is what it is all about.

I support your call to report to Microsoft but sadly, I exhausted every option to engage Microsoft prior to commencing this discussion way back on 26th July.

Microsoft SHOULD monitor their Forums and they SHOULD respond. Even their Support Staff express a weary frustration with trying to "escalate" issues.

Unfortunately, the Outlook Bug persists in Yosemite Public Beta 2 (Build 14A329r) and so, the work continues :)

This is a great piece of information. I hope you share it with Microsoft, because this discussion forum is only among customers and isn't necessarily read by anyone from Microsoft.

The best way to let Microsoft know is by using a support incident if your organization purchases them.

The next-best way to let Microsoft know this is by using the suggestion form and offer it to Microsoft as a suggestion of something to be fixed. To display the suggestion form, go to the Help menu in Outlook and choose the Send Feedback option. You won't get a personal reply (especially if you don't include your contact information), but the feedback will get to the right developer and you'll probably speed up the fixing process immensely with this tidbit of information.

The "no window" bug happens when your Exchange folders are expanded. Just make sure you keep them all closed and it should work fine. Unhiding the On My Computer folder allows you to open/close your account folder. I have forgot to close my folder a few times and had to do this all over....

Wow. I've been poring over every forum, message board and help file on this issue. You are the first one to point out the root of the problem. Sure enough! When I close Outlook with folder not expanded, I can open again next time. Otherwise, total pain in the ****. I sure hope Microsoft fixes this soon.

The solution that worked for me:

• Make sure "Hide On My Computer folders" is unchecked in Preferences/General
• Quit Outlook, delete "com.microsoft.Outlook.plist" in User/Library/Preferences
• Start Outlook holding the Option key, create a new identity, right click to make default

It should now start. Add your Exchange account again. The "no window" bug happens when your Exchange folders are expanded. Just make sure you keep them all closed and it should work fine.
