Mac Mail - Problems Sync'ing Inbox with IMAP Hotmail

I'm having a problem in syncing my hotmail e-mails through IMAP on Mail for mac.

I've followed the steps in **How to set up Mac Mail to sync your Outlook.com account**to set up my mail in Mail for mac and it seemed to work. The initial sync worked fine, but then after I tried to copy/paste a load of my old POP3 mail from the same hotmail account into the IMAP mailbox, I have started to get issues where Mac Mail never finishes sync'ing. I now have had no new email land in my inbox for 5 days !   :-(

All the folders under the inbox and all the other mail items such as sent, drafts, junk etc are synchronising but none of the new e-mails in the inbox are showing up.

Can someone please guide me as to what this issue could be and how to fix it ?   I keep occasionally getting the "error 9" messages that other people have received, but mainly I just see the 'activity monitor' sat there saying "Synchronizing with server" for hours on end and then it appears to stop.

The inbox currently has around 3.5k mails inside, but I have approx 7k I still need to *copy* into this mailbox from my old POP3 mailbox archive.

I have tried shutting down mail and deleting the .OfflineCache folder as per certain blog posts, but to no avail. I have also tried to offline/online the account as well as "enable/disable" the account from inside Mac Mail preferences.

Mac OS X v10.8.5

Mac Mail v6.6

Any help is very much appreciated.

    Same problem here. My mail won't sync correctly. It just give me the new emails but no other actions are assumed.

    I am also having the same issues... Switched to Mac a couple days ago and now its all kind of messed up on my Outlook.com email account w/ syncing issues..... Hope Microsoft fixes soon!

    I have almost the same issue, whenever i set up my hotmail account on mac mail it automatically crashes the application and I am not able to review my mails at all, I tired several solutions posted on the apple support page but none seems to work, so for now I deleted the account from my mac mail app and I have been forwarding all my emails to my gmail account, I don't know if there is an issue with the hotmail configuration on imacs, I already changed from pop3 to IMAP but it still without working, please help me with these since I do not want to be duplicating my emails between accounts and my hotmail account is my primary email account.

    Can someone at Microsoft please come up with a solution to this problem before I am forced to move to Gmail? It really doesn't make any sense to me that Hotmail works fine on iPad and not on Mac Mail.

    @ Microsoft, is there an ETA on arrival of a solution?

    Anyone had any luck yet?

    I am facing similar issues. I know that through exchange activesync it is possible (on mobile devices etc). Even on my mac using Touchdown which uses the exchange activesync properties to check mail.

    Current Problem

    1. Emails not syncing (the odd email, less then 10%, appears in my in-box but there is no pattern (whether I check online or on my iphone it does not seem to change whether the emails come into Mac Mail
    2. Sent emails will go out from Mac Mail, but will not be in the sent folder on Mac Mail (will be on the outlook.com sent folder)
    3. Occasionally I get the double sent message (but have more or less given up sending from Mac Mail so cannot say how occasional this is)
    4. Checking of mail and sending of mail is PAINFULLY slow at times (I wonder if this is another cause of the problem with background time outs going on). It is not my bandwidth as other email providers have the mail "flying" in.

    I have several accounts and they are all on Mac's native Mail application and I do not want to have to launch multiple programs just to check mail (or log into Outlook.com).

    Am tempted to fork out the $$$$ for MS Outlook and install that on my Mac, but I have heard people are having issues with that. Has anyone tried using MS Outlook on the Mac to connect to their hotmail.

    Whatever the situation is it is very annoying.

    Mac connects to native Exchange (which is a MS product), why don't they just use that for the Outlook.com service.
