Outlook.com App Frequently Prompts For Re-Login

First of all, I want to say that I was excited to see the new rebranding.  I was so impressed that I switched my main email address to an Outlook.com addy.

That said, I'm having a glaring issue with the new Outlook.com Android app.  I have push notifications enabled, and am frequently being told that my account requires re-login.  I'm seeing this several times a day.

An added occasional issue occurs when I put in my address and password.  I am told that I've attempted to login with an incorrect password too many times, and am prompted to do it again, this time with a required CAPTCHA field.  It then accepts my login, where I am prompted to choose permissions, then it takes me to the app.  Though it was happening every time at first, it's since started only happening about half the time.  So I might have to chalk that up to fat-fingering my password out of frustration.

I've never had this problem with the stock email app.  But I would rather use the Outlook.com app and take advantage of its extra features.

    To answer your inquiries,

    1. It's possible that using a long password when accessing/setting up your account  may have caused the issue due to mobile's character limits.

    2.  Yes, "using another account" means setting up a different Outlook.com account for testing purposes.

    1. Since you're using your phone's network, I suggest that you try connecting to the Internet via Wi-fi and see if issue will persist.

In addition, please also provide your app's logs for further investigation.

    Regards,

    Levi

I am having the same issue. On my Galaxy Note II (intl version)

I have two outlook accounts that are doing the same thing

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app.

This is happening on wifi and my 3g connection.

This is almost bad enough I am thinking of uninstalling the app until this issue is resolved.

    Hi a_c_967,

We appreciate your time in posting to our forum. I am more than happy to assist you with your concern about authentication issues with Outlook.com app.

I understand how frustrating it is to be having this kind of problem. If the issue persists, please try changing your password online (to a shorter one) and then try login in again. Using another account will help our investigation as well. This will help us determine if the issue is account related or not. Also try using a different internet connection on your phone for isolation. We also like to ask your phone's model, OS and OS version.

If you have other questions, please do tell us and we will answer them for you.

    Thank you.

Thank you for your reply to my comment. I'm afraid your reply prompts more questions from me:

    1. Are you saying that having a long password might be the cause of the issue? Or are you suggesting that to make this Microsoft app problem less of a hassle? I'd rather see Microsoft fix the problem.
    2. I'm not sure what you mean by "using another account." Are you suggesting I set up a separate Outlook email account for testing purposes?
    3. With regard to using a different Internet connection, I'm not sure what you mean. I'm not using wifi; I'm using my phone's network.

I am using an LG Optimus V phone, running Android 2.2.1.

By the way, I have also tried going back to the old Hotmail app, which worked fine, but after uninstalling the Outlook app and reinstalling the Hotmail app, the only option Hotmail gives me is to upgrade to Outlook app. So if I want to read my Outlook email on my phone, I have to deal with this log-in re-authorization problem.
