Outlook.com App Frequently Prompts For Re-Login

First of all, I want to say that I was excited to see the new rebranding.  I was so impressed that I switched my main email address to an Outlook.com addy.

That said, I'm having a glaring issue with the new Outlook.com Android app.  I have push notifications enabled, and am frequently being told that my account requires re-login.  I'm seeing this several times a day.

An added occasional issue occurs when I put in my address and password.  I am told that I've attempted to login with an incorrect password too many times, and am prompted to do it again, this time with a required CAPTCHA field.  It then accepts my login, where I am prompted to choose permissions, then it takes me to the app.  Though it was happening every time at first, it's since started only happening about half the time.  So I might have to chalk that up to fat-fingering my password out of frustration.

I've never had this problem with the stock email app.  But I would rather use the Outlook.com app and take advantage of its extra features.

    Hi OwenThomas75,

We understand your frustration about the Outlook.com app requiring for re-login. Let me assist you with this.

At this point, can you confirm if the same issue would persist if you configure a different account on your mobile phone using the Outlook.com app? If yes, then we will be asking for the mobile logs so we could investigate further.

You can post the logs on the private message that I have provided. I also included the instructions on how to get the mobile logs. Please make sure that you're signed in to this forum to view the link.

Note: You need to click the notification that states “You have a private reply to this message. Click here to read it on our secure private message section” or by clicking the “Private Messages” tab.

If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to post back.

    Regards,

    Johayber T.

    Hi pacnwjames,

Thank you for informing us that you're also constantly being asked re-log in your account on the Outlook.com app. I'd like to share this article that talks what is the two-step verification.

If you didn't enable this, then I request that you try to reinstall the app as it might be faulty. Please also try using a different account and a different internet connection to help us isolate what's causing the problem.

    Regards,

    Raymond

I am having the same problem as the others.  I am not sure what you mean by the two step verification but all I know is that I re-log in and then get logged out within hours.  Everything works fine while I'm logged in.  This problem has gotten much worse recently and this was confirmed by T-Mobile.

    Hi anim8rs8r,

Thank you for following up this matter. I understand how you're feeling about having no solution posted in this thread about the Outlook.com app for phone frequently asking to re-login issue. I'm here to assist you.

Can you please verify if you have enabled the two-step verification of your account? If yes, then please try to temporarily disable it as it might be contributing to the problem. Please check if the problem would persist. In case yes, then try reinstalling the Outlook.com app again.

We look forward to your reply.

    Regards,

    Raymond

Holy for effing sake! Look- instead of shitt-y canned responses, how bout you escalate this to a real technical dept so as to get this truly fixed once and for all. Or is MSFT actively trying to kill its email client. If yes please let me know and I will move over to gmail.
