Outlook.com App Frequently Prompts For Re-Login

First of all, I want to say that I was excited to see the new rebranding.  I was so impressed that I switched my main email address to an Outlook.com addy.

That said, I'm having a glaring issue with the new Outlook.com Android app.  I have push notifications enabled, and am frequently being told that my account requires re-login.  I'm seeing this several times a day.

An added occasional issue occurs when I put in my address and password.  I am told that I've attempted to login with an incorrect password too many times, and am prompted to do it again, this time with a required CAPTCHA field.  It then accepts my login, where I am prompted to choose permissions, then it takes me to the app.  Though it was happening every time at first, it's since started only happening about half the time.  So I might have to chalk that up to fat-fingering my password out of frustration.

I've never had this problem with the stock email app.  But I would rather use the Outlook.com app and take advantage of its extra features.

    Not sure if I passed over my issue with 'OUTLOOK' or not so here goes...I log on, read from 3-6 or 8 emails and the outlook changes...it changes to doing absolutely nothing!! This requires that I to exit 'internet explorer' and get back on-line and then 'OUTLOOK' again. This is really a problem when I have more than a dozen emails to read, usually every time I sign in. There must be a simple fix for this...I HOPE...as my com pu tator does care how upset I get. It just continues to go along with the mal-function. As I call it! Grasias!! Mike

    Welcome to Microsoft Community forum. We understand your frustration on having the same issue on being prompted frequently to enter your password on Outlook.com app.

    Please confirm the following for further investigation:

    • Have you enabled the two-step verification on your account? If yes, please use the app password being generated from the web to access your account on your mobile device. However, if it still does not work, I suggest that you turn off the two-step verification. Please proceed herefor more information.
    • Does issue occurs on a different account on your phone?
    • What is your phone's name and OS?
    • What is your affected email address? ( Please provide it on the private message I've created. Make sure that you're signed in here to view the message.)
    • Does issue also occurs when you access your account via your phone's default mail app?

    How can this problem be on a case-by-case issue, if hundreds (if not thousands) of people are having the problem, it seems to me that only thing that is in common is 1. It's a Microsoft App and 2. It's running on Android platform.

    Microsoft needs to fix the issue, plain and simple.  There is a reason why the app has over 48k 1-Star ratings.

    I love the interface, it's easy to navigate and much easier than the built-in Android mail app, but at least the built-in Android app never prompts me for a password.  The Microsoft Outlook.com prompts me at least every 2-3 hours.  It's very frustrating.

    Same problem here, with 1 of my 3 configured MSN.com accounts on a Galaxy Note II.

    Read over every post in this thread, as well as researching the issue elsewhere.

    I also have been unable to download logs due apparently to a bug in Outlook for Android.

    I have cleared cache; even cleared Android Dalvik cache, uninstalled, reinstalled, removed offending account, reset phone, rebooted, etc., etc., etc.

    So, before some Microsoft rep comes on here with a cheery disposition, saying to me, "Welcome to the Forum", "I'll be happy to help", "sorry for your frustration", "try this", "try that", etc., etc., etc., let me reassure you all, so that all those affected by this issue will understand clearly...

    ahem...

    I HAVE, AT ONE TIME OR OTHER IN THE LAST MONTH, DONE

      *** EVERY SINGLE THING ***

    THAT EVERY MICROSOFT REP HAS SUGGESTED IN THIS THREAD...

    and STILL the problem PERSISTS...

    Got it everyone?  Good.

    Microsoft: Let's lay the cards on the table...

    IT IS YOUR APP, AND ******** SOLELY ********* YOUR APP...  ***** FIX IT *******.

    • Have you enable to the 2 step verification of your account?
    • Have you tried using another Outlook.com account? If not, please do by creating a test account.
    • Does the issue occur using another Android device?
