Cannot sync birthdays from people to calendar... Help!!

I have manually added birthdays to certain people in my Microsoft account ('@outlook.com')...

these birthdays are supposed to automatically sync to my Calendar once added to a contact...

t's been 48 hrs and the birthdays are not updating to the calendar...

I have also tried to delete the birthday calendar and add it back...

I have tried to re-edit the relevant contact to see if it will update to calendar, but that also doesn't work...

I have Nokia Windows Phone 8 and I am using the Microsoft account with the phone...

The contacts are syncing fine with the phone, but the birthday calendar can't update until this problem is resolved...

I desperately want to get all my contacts, birthdays, calendar entries synced

I have also tried to add a birthday in calendar for a contact name I already have in people this then  creates a duplicate contact I then go to manage, clean up contacts this is then fine until about 24 hours later you then have duplicate birthdays

Please help!!!

    Hi Bruce Z,

Both the manual and the auto-linking of contacts (duplicates) cause weird behaviour of the automatic birthday calendar. After all birthdays working correctly for me during several weeks, linking a friend's Skype alias to his contact information promptly lost his birthday in the calendar on the next refresh of the birthday calendar.

Adding and removing people from groups has worked correctly for me since a backup-delete-restore of the local contacts on people.live.com as described earlier in this thread.

I consider setup and maintain a manual birthday calendar instead. There is only ~25 people that I keep track of. This way I can have the birth year in the event details and work out anniversaries on the phone too, without an app. Since all-day events still seem to cause trouble across different software and time zones, I plan to setup the birthdays as timed events at 8-10AM.

I have no idea how to escalate something that has been escalated already.

A moderator requesting access to your account suggests the root cause for this trouble is still not found.

Been lurking this post for a while but not actually reading it and I finally did and it turns out that yeah, these are the exact problems I have. Not all birthdays are synced over to the calendar and then they'll disappear and reappear at random.

    We need this fixed!

Edit: After I posted this, I decided to bite the bullet and do what HPHolm suggested to do. I just went and manually added people's birthdays to a new calendar. It took a few hours, but I think it's worth it

    Hello ReaksmayChan

You might find that if you add birthdays manually back to the calendar, outlook.com creates a second record for the person in the People hub.  If you click on the manage tab in the People Hub, you will get a drop down box where one of the choices is Clean Up Contacts.  If you click on that option you will get a list of contacts that appear to be duplicates.  As well if you look up the person in the people hub (don't click on the box, just click on the picture image or the name) the record will appear to the right.  Look to see if there are multiple outlook records.  I had 7  of these incidents.  I don't know how they got there.  If you actually delete the person from your People hub and then go back later and re-create it in People, adding the birthday when you re-create it,  the birthday seems to reappears.  I have lengthy posts in my original thread Birthdays Disappearing from outlook.com  all describing the manipulations I had made to the calendar and the results.  I believe assigning people to groups or removing them from groups also has the effect of interfering with the display of birthdays.  I have started a new thread called Birthday Calendar Incidents where I will report what is happening to my calendar in a table format.  I believe the problem is a systemic bug in outlook.com

Here are the links to the threads:

    Hi Spencejah

I actually did the same thing as well.  However, when you add the birthdays manually to the calendar outlook creates another record for the person in the people Hub.  You can see these if you just put in the person's name in the people hub search.  After I used the Clean Up Contacts under the Manage Tab in the people hub I went back to my People Hub and manually clicked on each contact.  When the record for the contact was displayed on the right of the screen I noted 7 people who had mulitiple outlook records.  I have no idea how they got there.  I ended up deleting the contact and re-creating it in the People Hub.  When I noticed this problem with the calendar I created a thread here.  That original thread has long posts by me detailing the manipulations I made and my observations with the calendar.  I subsequently created a new thread where I am posting in table format what his happening to my calendar. If you are interested, here are the thread links:
