Outlook.com Calendar birthdays sync issue

Cannot sync birthdays from people to calendar... Help!!        

I have manually added birthdays to certain people in my Microsoft account ('@outlook.com')...

 these birthdays are supposed to automatically sync to my Calendar once added to a contact...

t's been 48 hrs and the birthdays are not updating to the calendar...

I have also tried to delete the birthday calendar and add it back...

I have tried to re-edit the relevant contact to see if it will update to calendar, but that also doesn't work...

I have Nokia Windows Phone 8 and I am using the Microsoft account with the phone...

The contacts are syncing fine with the phone, but the birthday calendar can't update until this problem is resolved...

I desperately want to get all my contacts, birthdays, calendar entries synced

I have also tried to add a birthday in calendar for a contact name I already have in people this then  creates a duplicate contact I then go to manage, clean up contacts this is then fine until about 24 hours later you then have duplicate birthdays

Please help!!!

    This bug is ridiculous. And more ridiculous MS has not fixed it.  Here's what I've found:

     I discovered if I go to the contact and remove the Facebook or Skype link, it splits the contact into two contacts and it then appears on the calendar.  However then you have duplicate contacts and Manage > Cleanup Contacts will merge them back together and the birthdate will disappear from the calendar again.  

    I then went and removed all linked accounts.  The Michele contact in question still appeared but only for Skype.  And once again, despite there being a birthdate specified in the account, she doesn't appear on the birthday calendar.  And if I recreate her, then I have duplicate contents, and then if I merge via the cleanup, she's not on the birthday calendar anymore.  Probably only way would be to either live with the duplicate (not) or delete her from Skype contacts if there is no way to prevent outlook.com from reading my skype contacts.

    Very frustrating.

    This thread regarding the Skype integration may be related to this issue.

    I would like to add that some names that sometimes appear in the birthday calendar are not the same as the Outlook contacts. Thus, whereas some names are correct, others show Skype's username or Facebook's name. I mentioned it a few days ago but I would like to know if there's any improvement in that aspect too.
