Using older versions of Outlook for Mac in business environments
It might not be on autoupdate yet (no idea what's holding it up).

My mother's installation of Outlook 2011 has suddenly stopped working. When she tries to run it, the splash screen comes up briefly (like for about a second or less) and then disappears again and the program quits. This is all that it does. It does not display any kind of error message. It just quits. There is a file sitting on her Desktop titled Sent Items.mbox and the Get Info window and icon suggest that this file is connected to Outlook. I assume that this is the file containing her sent emails, but I can’t find where it is supposed to go.
What I am think is that my mom was poking around in folders that she should not have been in an accidentally moved this file out of its correct location and that Outlook, not finding it, is simply quitting. Is this what is happening? Can someone tell me where this file is supposed to go?

This resolved the issue, just needed to find the windows updates, install and issue gone.
Thank you.
Hi,
We have an iMac running 10.8.5 and Mac Office 2011 (14.5.1) at our office.
Outlook mail comes from company Microsoft Exchange server. Tried all the suggestions in
this forum and nothing works. Mac Office 2011 apps all work EXCEPT Outlook.
It gets to the splash screen and then quits.
I've deleted all of the com.microsoft.outlook*.plist files
Rebuild the database
Installed the 14.5.1. updater
Even moved the Mac Office folder to another location and did a brand new
install and still get the same results.
Any suggestions???
Thank you.
Dave
The first solution (- Launch Outlook pressing the option key down to rebuild the identity) solved perfectly the issue for me. It took a while to rebuilt the identity (you only need to click on rebuilt and wait around 4 minutes) but worked like a charm. THANKS!
It just fixed my problem as well. Thanks so much!
