Teams hogging memory, running slowly

Hi

Teams is almost killing my laptop. Here's an example:

Is there anything  can do to reduce Teams' memory usage?

Or do I just need to buy more memory?

    Sorry for bringing your inconvenience. As mentioned by the Teams engineer in this feedback, Performance has been and continues to be a big focus area for Teams. One main area we have made improvements in is responsiveness for the most frequent user actions of switching between Chat, Channel, and Activity. We are also focused on reducing resource consumption and application load time. More improvements are on the way.

    Obviously I'm not the only one. Been having problems with everything running slowly, Outlook freezing and other Office apps crashing when Teams is open and using it/sharepoint for file management. Only been happening for the past two days and never had any of these issues before. Forced me to reinstall Office suite and hasn't fixed it.

    It's a bit of a joke that Teams is so resource hungry, and MS's response is basically "navigate to this place and find some files and delete them yourself". What about people who aren't tech savvy? What about people who just want to use their computer and not have to manage and maintain individual apps? (I assume that's 100% of us).

    Apps should be black-boxes - they should look after themselves and leave the users to just use them; no additional fiddling except installing updates.

    Microsoft, get your crap together. Releasing bloated malfunctioning (cr)apps is hurting us, and it should hurt you if you don't fix it - the issues with Teams and your other products (e.g. will we ever get a stable version of Word?)

    right on brother.  They point you to forums under the guise of engaging with the community, but basically it is MS saving money on support services when a rubbish product is pushed out.  Why can we not use Skype - and I mean before MS eviscerated it.  Worked fine ....
