Teams hogging memory, running slowly

It's a bit of a joke that Teams is so resource hungry, and MS's response is basically "navigate to this place and find some files and delete them yourself". What about people who aren't tech savvy? What about people who just want to use their computer and not have to manage and maintain individual apps?

Honestly it's not even about being tech-savvy in this situation. It's 1) completely ridiculous that you have to personally navigate to the cache files to manually remove them to fix an issue theyshould have fixed ages ago and 2) the whole "solution" of clearing the cache files are very temporary. Once you start Teams up over again, it'll start creating and storing new caches. Clearing caches works great if you have issues for example logging in, but not as a solution to fix resource consumption in the long run.

It has been almost a year and this issue still persists.

Same thing happening to me. Typical - throw software out there and let our users be our 'Alpha' testers.

How do you NOT know a new release will create this issue for nearly everyone and still release it that many of us have no control over now.

This is getting old with MS Software. OS, Apps, etc. - all of it. Open up LinkedIn App and it buries my CPU and Memory usage too.

Teams is certainly a joke, it uses 400MB on my system idling in the background not connected to a single team, whereas Skype for Business running on the same system uses just 90 MB and does the same job.

This is just so that MS can save money on development efforts by shipping the same crappy web application to desktop and mobile users. I'm a developer myself, I certainly understand the benefits of writing an application once and shipping it to multiple platforms. Great for startups, prototypes and getting things rolling. For a company like MS it's imho a bad choice, they should just put more effort in it and develop versions that are optimized for each platform.

Same as everyone else - Teams hogs over 700MB of RAM without any chats or connections to Teams, and pounds on my system hard drive making other applications lag beyond usability. No way can Teams replace Skype in its current configuration.
