Teams hogging memory, running slowly

Hi

Teams is almost killing my laptop. Here's an example:

Is there anything  can do to reduce Teams' memory usage?

Or do I just need to buy more memory?

Thanks!

    You may be right about SSD drives. but I don't think many people are going to upgrade their hard drive just to support one app from Msft. Nor should they have to - Msft should have developed Teams with "average" hardware in mind, not the latest pc's they use for testing. As for the comparison between Chrome and Teams - a browser is the primary tool for accessing content and in today's parlance is "essential". Teams is not.

    Hi,

    Based on your chart above I suspect you do not have an SSD drive in your laptop. If so then this would be my initial course of action and the cheapest way to upgrade.

    The chart does not really indicate Teams is the culprit... Teams isn't really doing anything while Chrome is using almost 600MB of memory but, based on the high disk usage i've seen this happens a lot with either devices without SSD drives or in some cases computers that have rogue processes or drivers.

    Hmm, too bad you are having issues.

    On my end I haven't had any issue. MS Teams releases memory when I'm running some other memory heavy app (ML process running on Anaconda env using Sklearn etc).

    And on my machine, Brave, Chrome, MS Teams all use about same amount of memory (all based on Chromium).

    My main gripe with MS Teams is that the desktop app doesn't allow quick switch between multiple accounts. And I'm forced to use Chrome's profile to have multiple instance of web app to support multiple orgs.

    Does anyone know a fix to this?

    We are in the final stages of purchasing Office 365 and we were planning on using Teams as part of the package. I will be redirecting IT to not install teams and we will continue to use the competitors product until we can confirm this has been solved.

    @Huni Shen MSFT

    Any update from the related team? IT seems that many users are still experiencing this issue and feeling somewhat neglected by microsoft.
