Teams hogging memory, running slowly

That is actually low! I Had a Teams instance eating away 2GB in memory, doing nothing on a new notebook (fresh windows install). Teams is just a poorly optimized application. With better hardware, there comes worse software in the cheap. Now I just exit Teams when not needing it, getting notifications on my phone.

Still a ridiculous issue, while Msft keeps releasing things no one cares about .......

1. Adding RAM is not feasible for a lot of devices these days with soldered in RAM. Microsoft sells devices this way, ironically.
2. People are clearly frustrated about Teams hogging RAM and disk use. Adding RAM is simply a band aid not a solution. In time it will stop working and your Teams will once again slow down.
3. The solution, an actual solution, is to correct the underlying code. Namely, the decision to run Teams on a Chrome code base which is a notorious RAM hog.

You can't expect to throw comments into a technical forum with experienced people and not get responses like this. Sorry if you feel offended but these are just the facts.

DianeLynch3. my feelings exactly when I first joined this stream. A flicker of hope that some might have a workaround (no one seems to have one that I can apply ). A few people set out apparent technical solutions that are so far beyond me I haven't a hope of knowing where to start , let alone do it correctly. One poster who said install extra memory ( which as you will have seen everyone has piled in and told me how wrong I am to have done so and what a **** solution it is ...........I'm not advising you to do it - I can't; what do I know about I.T.? But I can say it worked for me. ).
Microsoft won't do anything; its not in MS interest to do anything. Their main customers are big business and govt both of which have scores of tech people who can adjust things. Secondly we are on an MS webpage in a string of exchanges ( which no doubt MS uses AI to monitor). If a more technically adapt person comes up with a solution in one of these strings MS will just snaffle it put it into teams ( after a bit of testing) and claim it as its own. So MS won't solve the problem- why should they.?

Like you this is the first forum I have joined. It will be the last. When all you get for sharing experience is keyboard warriors who tell you your 'advice' is , s**t, c**p and 'insulting', well, I can do without these people in my life.
As brandonjclark78 has commented "Unsubscribing from this conversation. It's clear to me there will never be a fix." and I am doing the same.
The decryers and whingers can carry on. I solved my teams problem by adding more memory so I don't need this forum any more . Take care in these troubled time

Hello ABATISUK- I didn't mean to throw my negativity your way! I believe your fix would indeed be helpful. I just had a long horrible day, yesterday, telecommuting, with no choice but to use Teams and it loads slow, runs slow, and freezes my computer (S)- desktop and 2 laptops) all day long. My comment was coming from the fact that your post was a really long time ago and there is nothing but complaints about Teams and Edge, with no real fix by Microsoft yet.

I wonder if they would be willing to upgrade everyone's memory that is having issues, at no cost to us to continue to use their product.

Yesterday was my first time posting in any of the forums and I am not usually such a negative person as it doesn't help or add anything to the thread, Sorry!!
