Hi

Teams is almost killing my laptop. Here's an example:

Is there anything  can do to reduce Teams' memory usage?

Or do I just need to buy more memory?

Thanks!

    Hi ephektz .

buying RAM is cheap but there are lot of laptops nowadays that you cannot detach the RAM from the motherboard and replace with another, as an example, HP Envy.. only option is to replace the board.. but why anybody needs to do that only because of an issue with a application.. thigs were far away better with Lync and SFB.

Well on my system Teams consumes anywhere between 100 MB and multiple GBs. My Surface Book 2 has 16 GB and is non-upgradeable. Teams is the application that uses the most resources on the device.

The only real, and truly helpful advice I can give is to buy more RAM. Memory is fairly cheap. It’s certainly not an ideal solution, but it’s guaranteed to work. I am blessed/cursed to be a software developer myself, and so my main workstation runs 32GB of RAM. Teams, on average, consumes around 1.3GB, which is often more than my IDE pulls.

Interestingly, while my daily machine runs Windows 10, on my MacBook Pro Teams only consumes 200MB. So maybe the actual solution is to buy a Mac. 😂
