Teams hogging memory, running slowly

Hi

Teams is almost killing my laptop. Here's an example:

Is there anything  can do to reduce Teams' memory usage?

Or do I just need to buy more memory?

    Ephektz.  you are the only person who has tried to assist and for that I am mightily grateful.  Being new to all this I had ( apparently wrongly ) thought MS would assist.  It was interesting to note your subsequent message that said the fix  doesn't work. Please accept my thanks for making the effort. I guess I just have to struggle on and wait for MS to sort it out. I do find it odd that a multi billion dollar company which dominates the digital world puts out **** and its solution to those with problems is   "your problem pal, search the internet and see if anyone has a solution, we're not interested"  . Quite bizarre.   Thank for communicating .

    The hope is that come November, when they retire support for Teams in IE 11, that we will see a .NET 5 version of Teams for the desktop. There are so many unforgivable bugs in Teams across all platforms currently that I am amazed anyone actually uses it. Unfortunatly the decision to use the platform is rarely made by people who know what they’re doing.

    It seems obvious to me that they've ramped up work on teams (note: i didn't say 'fix') to compete with Google and to cope with the extra subscriptions due to the pandemic.

    Yeah, i get that, but fix what has (evidence by previous threads) been a problem for nigh on 2 years now.

    I cannot in all conscience roll Teams out as fully as i'd like to our workforce whilst its in such a sorry state.

    Bad MS....baaaad!

    Also, quick note, the instructions with the AppData folder don’t work. The memory consumption is caused by the bug filled mess that is Teams. Their codebase is bad, and the many libraries they’re using are hopelessly out of date. I’ve never seen so many errors being thrown in a dev console, ever. Your best bet is to wait for Microsoft to fix their issues, but I have no confidence in that happening anytime soon.

    You posted this giant paragraph about not knowing how to get to your AppData folder, when instead you could have typed a few words into google. The first hit for me was a youtube video demonstrating the process. In your case self help would work much better than having someone try to explain to you, in a fairly non interactive context, how to navigate to Explorer. Did you even check out the google search?
