outlook error 'copying meetings is not supported' when copying to PST

UPDATE: this only happens with the beta channel release. the standard channel I have on another computer works fine. then another question is... what is the reason behind this change?

hi all, starting this afternoon (october 17) when I try to copy from O365 to a local PST a calendar invite with participants on it (regardless of whether I created or received it) I receive an error message 'copying meetings is not supported'.

the only annoying workaround is to open the occurrence, save it to the desktop, drag and drop it to the PST. not ideal.

until yesterday when drag-dropping the same calendar invite, I would receive a message asking if I want to copy the occurrence or the series, and *poof* done.

OS: win 11 22h2 all updates installed, OS build 22621.2428, experience pack 1000.22674.1000.0, already restarted even though I know it wouldn't solve the issue. nothing in the event viewer.

outlook: it's the company O365 account. calendar fully synced, Windows client, no new version (come to think of it, the 'new version' button disappeared too from the client). Spoke to a mail admin and to my understanding they haven't activated any strange setting today.

PST: tried to move the calendar invite to two different, I am the owner, they are on my pc, permissions are right, files are small so limit size has not been reached.

calendar events: only events (series or standard occurrences) with participants in it are affected. all events created by myself and for myself can be copied as usual.

I checked the release notes and I can't see anything related to this.

so my questions are ... is it a new behavior? can it be deactivated given how irritating it is? any workaround less time consuming than the one above?

    I agree, Matt ... just dumping the code on is and making us change the registry is NOT helpful! That's not something we should be doing company-wide, and frankly should NEVER have been unilaterally decided by Microsoft in the first place. Let US decide how/when to use copy meeting. If we have problems based on those actions, then let US resolve them ourselves.

    I have multiple calendars I manage and this is unwanted change is now hampering my ability to manage meetings, deadlines and appointments for some our key staff.

    Thanks for this ... I along with others here object to Microsoft taking it upon themselves to save us from ourselves. Please let US the users decide how to manage copying from other calendars. Like Kris Paulson posted previously, I also manage multiple calendars and need to be able to copy to my calendar so I can keep some of our key staff on time for meetings, deadlines and other appointments.

    This makes sense.

    However, can that not come up as a warning, when you try to move calendar event?

    My main calendar is in a .pst file/account. Its local and I have control over back up.

    When meetings are arranged, yes, they usually appear in my Microsoft (hotmail account),

    and I usually leave them there until the meeting is one and finished.

    I then move them to my main calendar (the .pst file) where ALL my events are stored.

    Allowing users to move events, but with a warning, I think would be a good compromise.

    I can understand the position of Microsoft having dealt with calendar issues for an org of 16,000+ people. It's the same reason why you don't share a working spreadsheet by attaching it to an email to 10 people. Now you have 10 different working copies floating around and none of them coalesce. If you copy a meeting to another calendar, you now have two different working meetings in different calendars. Any changes made to one will not reflect on the other.

    Hi.

    Are you able to provide any more detail about how to find the right registry thread? (Per your comment: "At this point, it is important to know which version of Office you're running.") I have Windows 10 Home version, and in [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft] I don't have an option for Office, or Outlook. The only thing that looks remotely related is an option "CalendarRT." Where else chould I look for the \Outlook\Options\Calendar\ thread?
