I even went back nad removed the registry key that I created, rebooted, and this method continued to work.

I actually ended up just dragging and dropping from the list of item in the calendar I wanted to drag from and drop into the calendar on the left that I want to drag to . . . .once it dropped in, in went to the same date/time in that calendar.

I even 'batch' dropped, selecting several items in one go from the calendar I wanted to drag from , and they all dropped ok to the calendar I wanted to drag to.

Makes no sense why going into list view this would work, but at least it does.

Thanks and I’ll give it a try, though so far haven’t found a way to copy any calendar items that don’t give me the sad or similar permission warnings.

Bottom line though is this is yet another workaround that shouldn’t be needed as this unwanted and unwarranted change shouldn’t have happened and needs to be rescinded by Microsoft.

Appreciate the tip though.

If you have a version of Outlook that does not contain the registry key provided in the solution in this chain, here is another workaround to copy meetings from one calendar to another. Kind of kludgy, but slightly better than nothing:

• Go into Calendar and select the two calendars where you want to share the meetings.
• Under the "View" menu tab, select "Change View" and then select "List."
• You should now see one of the two calendars in list view.
• Go to the calendar from which you want to copy the meeting and select the meeting you want to copy (you can sort the list by start date or subject to help you find it).
• Hit Ctrl + C.
• Go to the list view of the calendar where you want to copy the meeting.
• Select an item in the list (no idea why this is required, but if you just select the calendar itself, you can't copy the item. Don't worry, it doesn't affect the item you select.)
• Hit Ctrl +V.
• You should get a pop-up asking you if you want to accept the meeting, tentatively accept it, or copy it. Select Copy and hit OK.
• You should now see the meeting in the list of the calendar you copied it to (and when you go back to Calendar View, it should appear there too).
• I can't vouch for this last bullet because I haven't tried it yet, but it LOOKS like you can copy and then paste more than one meeting at a time.

Right on, Kris, I feel ya. Almost exactly my same situation. As a very busy administrator I’ll go ahead and say for the two of us (at the very least) the do-gooder change they arbitrarily made is 100% counterproductive.

Interested to see how how / if this gets resolved.

You hit the nail on the head - I don't need to be saved from myself. I use 2 computers to manage individual client work and the registry hack has only worked for me on one computer. A lot of meetings are recurring, and I've wasted so much time manually setting them up in all the calendars only to have the meetings change now in the new year. Now I'm deleting and setting them up all over again, when before I could literally drag and drop in less than a second. It's not how I want to spend my time.
