MS Access End of Life?

In an effort to eliminate MS Access from the current software landscape, the IT department where I work continues to espouse the fact that Microsoft has announced the End of Life for Access, not just a particular version but rather eliminating Access altogether.  Is there any truth to this?

None whatsoever. This rumor has been going around for decades and has never been true. In fact, the Access development team has announced a new dedication to improving the desktop (see my blog). Ask your IT department to provide any statement from Microsoft to support their contention. Feel free to show them this response.

    Here's a link to the Access MSI problem: support.office.com/en-us/article/Office-installed-using-Click-to-Run-and-Window-Installer-on-same-computer-isn-t-supported-30775ef4-fa77-4f47-98fb-c5826a6926cd. That's obviously been fixed now.

    We're really talking about Access in Small Businesses. It appears that I have two solutions - buy Access 2016 on the Home Store (you can't buy standalone Access 2016 on the Office 365 Store); or have a few users on the E3 plan. The price is almost the same, so they're aiming to get people on the Enterprise Plans. That begs the question: what are the Business plans for?

    And as Daniel Pineault pointed out, Small Businesses "would be the definition of their target market!!!"

    And as I pointed out to another well known company, small businesses need all the same features and functionality, but with smaller budgets, and fewer PCs.
