Hello Insiders,

My name is Shakun Grover and I am a Program Manager on the Microsoft Visio team. 

We are excited to announce the availability of brand new Website and Mobile App Wireframe Templates in Visio! Now you can bring any project or product idea to life using the modern Visio wireframes, which can help you quickly visualize your website’s or app’s functionality and content.

What can you do?

  • Sleek low fidelity mockups: Create quick mockups for your product or feature with ease using the new Website and Mobile App wireframe templates. There are pre-packaged containers, UI controls, media, navigation shapes, and more for you to use!

  • Smart Shapes: Smart controls, like range slider and progress bar, let you customize values. Right-click Menu Actions give you options to change states, visual styles, and more.

Availability

If you are an Office 365 subscriber with Visio Pro for O365, you’ll start seeing the new wireframe templates depending on your Insider level:

Insider Fast: The new wireframe templates are now available in Insider Fast Version 1708 (Build 8424.1000) or later. 

Insider Slow: The new wireframe templates are now available in Version 1708 (Build 8431.2046) or later!

Current Channel: The new wireframe templates are now available to current channel worldwide audience under Visio Online Plan 2 in the Desktop client with build 8625.2000 or later. 

These new templates are available in all languages supported in Visio.

Get started

You can find wireframe templates by navigating as below: 

File > New > Templates > Software and Database (category) > Wireframe - Mobile App

File > New > Templates > Software and Database (category) > Wireframe - Website

Scenarios to Try

  1. Use Mobile App wireframe starter diagrams - Add, delete, update shapes

  1. Use Website wireframe starter diagrams - Add, delete, update shapes

  1. Start with a blank drawing in mobile app or website wireframe template. Navigate to the stencil for containers and drag a mobile frame/internet browser container to the canvas. Further add controls and other shapes from stencils to the wireframe. Use control points and right-click menu actions to modify state or visual style of the shapes.

Known Issues

Below are some of the known localization issues in some languages other than English and we are in the process of fixing them:

  1. Text in some shapes might overlap or overflow. Quick workaround: Change font size of text or increase size of shapes.
  2. Layout for some starter diagrams might not look aligned. Quick workaround: Change font size of text, increase size of shapes or rearrange shapes.
  3. Some strings might not show localized in some languages.

    Hi @Justine,

    To get the latest wireframe template, you can move from Deferred Channel to Current Channel by following the instructions provided here.

    How can I use the new wireframes?

    I'm using the last insider version of Visio Pro 2016, 1801 Build 8828.2010 and I can't found these wireframes

    Dear Shakun,

    I found the process of replicating building a Mobile App Wire Frames misleading. 

    I've purchased and installed your software MS Visio Pro for Office 365, version 1708 build (8431.2143) however i cannot find the link File > New > Templates > Software and Database (category) > Wireframe - Mobile App

    None of your online chat teams (spoke to two) were able to help and passed me to someone else.

    Very disappointed with the products and I feel mislead especially when Microsoft is advocating buying the software because it so simple to create Mobile App wire frames:

    Hello Walid,

    Can you please confirm if you are an Insider Slow subscriber?

    Build 8431 will have these templates if you are an Insider Slow subscriber.

    If you are not an Insider Fast or Slow subscriber, you will see these templates if you have a minimum of build 8625.

    It would be great if you could share your product Account info as a snapshot, as below:

    File > Account > Product Information.

    I have the same issue. I am not an Insider Fast or Slow subscriber but I own the offline version of Visio Professional 2016. I am on build 9001 but I still don't have access to the new Wireframes Mobile and Web. Please can you provide instructions on how to download or add these?
