Bring Your 3D Models to Life with *New* 3D Animations in PowerPoint

Hey Insiders!

My name is Aimee, and I'm a PM in the Office Graphics team. I’m excited to announce five new 3D animations in PowerPoint that can bring your 3D models to life. These are fantastic for exploring models, elevating your storytelling skills, and building even more immersive presentations.

3D Animations has begun rolling out to Windows Desktop Office 365 subscribers for Insiders Slow on Version 1712 (Build 8827.2082).

Getting started

Applying these new 3D animations is easy and familiar.

  1. In PowerPoint, insert any 3D model you would like to animate

  1. Navigate to the Animation Ribbon. With your 3D model selected, the five new 3D animations will be available in the Animations Gallery. Go ahead and select one!

  1. Adjust the direction, intensity and other parameters of your 3D animation in the Effect Options dropdown, located in the Animations Ribbon

    Hi Jean-Michel,

    Are you using Office at home, or are you on an Enterprise subscription that is managed by IT? They have the ability to hold, delay, and approve updates if they have chosen to manage the subscription. Otherwise, you can update by going to File > Account > Update Options > Update now.

    Hello,

    I've done an update of my office Suite I get the 1801 version but I can't find the Animations dedicated to 3D models.

    Where these animations which cam in 1712 (turntable for example) are located?

    Hi Jean-Michel,

    It should be appearing in fast, slow, or production monthly channel versions. If you've got the semi-annual, I don't think it's caught up to that.

    It's under the Insert tab in PowerPoint.

    What's the full version and build you're using?
